NEW gk fusion 1200!

Nary a word to be heard. As I did during the protracted wait for the Plex, I have lost interest.

I am a big fan of the MBF, and I was interested in the update. But I fear this unit has a digital preamp, and no word otherwise.

In the meantime, I fell in love with Demeter, so....yeah. I am keeping one of my MBF800s....but one is for sale.

I have seen this marketng strategy before
Presumably to increases interest and presales before a product launch
I was turned off by the previous hype of the MB heads with no release date or one that was a moving target
It was the reviews and resale that got me started in owning 3 of these with the 800 fusion being the long term keeper
Otoh it seems to work for gk
I have no interest in the new units until they are widely available
I'm not waiting for one based on the cry wolf history

According to G-K's comments on that facebook post ( ), the 1200 model gets "1200 through 2, 800 through 4, 400 through 8"... so basically the same as the old 800 unless you have a 2ohm cab / stack available...?

Presumably the new 1000 and 500 will end up with the same sort of output as the old 500 and 200 ? (again, assuming you only have access to 4 or 8 Ohm cabs)

I think I'd be more tempted if that display also had a tuner built in, but as it is it looks like it'll take up a little more space in the gig bag, and now has smaller feet which probably won't clear the top handle on my cab.

Hmmm

I'd buy this amp, probably. Seems like Plex pedal and mb fusion series put together.

The MB Fusion line has tube preamp and this new line will add tube compression to it, so no digital preamp here.

Yeah, I own an MB800F...cool preamp.

How you know this one isnt digital preamp? Or are you GK employee?

I'll just leave here the quote from GK when they released the news about the new MB Fusion line:
"The new Fusion series of Class D heads will come in 500, 800, and 1200 Watt models. Features include tube compression w/display, tube overdrive, tube pre-amp, our classic 4-band eq with additional voicing features (Bump, Contour, Hi-Cut, Presence), 2/4/8 Ohm switch, Phones and Aux ins, patch bay... Everything you need and more! #gkallday#gallienkrueger #fusion #namm#namm2018#bassplayers #bassgear"
I don't work for GK, every gear that I own was fully paid so I have no endorsement with any company.
I own a MB Fusion 500 and I know because I tried to inform myself about the gear that I buy that the concept behind the Fusion line is the mix of a tube preamp and class D power amp. The MB line (not fusion) uses a solid state preamp.
No digital here.

Yup, I saw that. It's not 100% clear to me that GK doesn't mean that these features won't be achieved with a digital preamp. They seem to be headed in that direction. It would be more reassuring if it was noted to have "a tube preamp" and not just "tube preamp"...which could refer to an emulation. And, of course, mention of something like "3 x 12AX7" tubes would be very clear.

But, generally speaking, you're right I think. The verbiage would be rather misleading if it is indeed a digital preamp. Then again, GK were seemingly cagey about the Plex being a digital unit before its release. Even today, there is nothing in the Plex product description that notes it's digital, but the following video was created to show how well the Plex compares to what it's emulating. Pretty impressive actually.

So even if the new Fusion does have a digital preamp, there is nothing to say that it won't be a killer amp.
