New GK Plex Preamp

Interesting. Looks like the EQ section is always on? I'm not sure that's something I'd want.
But to me the biggest question is how good the built in compressor is. If it could replace both my tuner AND my compressor while providing preamp functions, being a headphone amp/practice tool and DI then that's pretty hard to pass up.
I've always dug GK gear and on paper it seems like a fantastic tool so depending the price I think I'll pretty much have to check one out.

It probably doesn't, but if it DID send a strong enough signal out, like the "Chain Out" feature of the MB series heads and combos, (were those +10dB?) then this could drive any of the MBP powered cabs to.

when the builders on tb were making the gk rails pedals I and a friend had cash in hand to buy them but no one on the thread would contact us back. guess i'll just give my money to GK instead.

My Carvin BX500 lacks a tuner (not a huge deal) but also an aux in (the headphone amp is simpy a tuner out and has no eq) - the effects loop also lacks a blend - all common comprimises for a great little amp but a buzzkill.
My TH pedal lacks compression/tuning and some of these features.
I'll wait for the secondary market to offer one of these up in another year when I'm (hopefully) in a position to gig more!

I can't believe I'm this excited for a piece of gear that will, most likely, never be used outside of my house. I understand why many of you guys are concerned about some of the functionality and the tonal options, but this thing seems to meet every need I have for a personal practice device. Aux in, headphone out, built-in tuner, built-in comp, USB out & DI out, GK EQ...
I really just need to know when I can buy one, and how much the damn thing is gonna cost! I'm also with those who are saying it needs to be $299 or less. I'm totally onboard up to about $350. Beyond that, I may need some more convincing. As of right now, I'm all about this!

while it has more features than ampeg's offering I feel like they may shoot themselves in the foot if the breach the 199.99 price point.
Looks at it this way: how much would you be shelling out for a preamp? A DI? A USB audio interface? A compressor? A Boost? I think if this thing goes up to $400, they will need to make sure they're out in stores for people to try, but it won't be an over the top price if it sounds as good as it looks.
Remember the MB500 (not the fusion) retails for $500 and can be bought most places with a 15% discount - $425. If this PLEX is selling for anything near that price, you can just buy it and get the amp with it. It really needs to be in the $200 - $300 range to be an attractive option.
I feel like there are going to be a lot of situations like mine:
I have a great tuner, a solid DI, and a good compressor already. I just want this pedal for the boost section. If they price it too high I feel like many (myself definitely) will just say "i'll just keep what I have and find some dirt elsewhere"
or for someone else it may not be the boost, it may be the compression, or the tuner, or the DI, who knows. They may price themselves right out of the game, and that would make me sad as I love GK for many reasons.
for me, personally, if it breaches 250 it is going to price itself right out of my range.
We can debate the sonic differences, but all of the GK features you've mentioned are matched by the wildly popular ZOOM B3 (see my sig), which has the added flexibility of programming and special effects, a looper, and a rhythm machine. Cost $199 (can be found factory warranteed B-stock for $149).
Also agree with @Blankandson that at $400+/- I'm considering just buying the GK micro head and inserting the ZOOM B3 in its effects loop. I think GK is easily justified in charging in the $400 range, but it will definitely cause some prospective buyers to pause and think a little harder before pulling the trigger. For me, sub-$300 makes it easier to pull the trigger. $250 makes it a no-brainer. I think $200 is unrealistic, but we'll see.
Ok guys, RAG is on TB and might be following this thread. Stop with all the "it needs to be under $300", and change it to "it needs to be $50 or less". I gots kids to feed!
GK is a great American company. We want them to make good $$, too!
