The me-too "pickguard" completely kills it for me. Nothing says "cheap, derivative, and mass-produced" like a big gaudy slab of plastic covering up the wood.

It's hard to tell from the photos, but the body looks a bit slab-like. Given the asking price, some deeper contouring would give it more character and probably improve the ergonomics at the same time.

The black hardware looks good, and it's damn nice to see a design that doesn't rely on drag-inducing stringtree band-aids.

Hold the spray-paint; decent wood should be seen as well as heard, and you wouldn't have to worry about a matching headstock finish if both were natural.

Great pickup!

Too bad about the PITA headstock trussrod access; it's so much quicker and easier to adjust at the body.

Interested in a 4 string version as well... They look great and knowing the pickup / pre combo combined with the overall Human Bass feel, this should be a killer!

So - when and where will they be available? By the way, I'm a So Cal guy so if you need someone to give them a run for their money - let me know!!

The current BaseX.oc line is available at Bass Exchange in LA and Rockit Music in Brea.

There are a number of retailers online as well and more throughout the country.

We are trying to go into production before the end of the year.......all major complications aside, it should not be a problem. We are hoping to see basses rockin all over the country very early next year.

When we get a production model I will get in touch and you can swing into our shop here in orange, ca for a DEMO.(I have tasty glock gear to DEMO through).

Yours Truly,

:hyper:

Tyler, that sounds great. I am looking forward to demo'ing one! If the Bass Exchange does not have what I am looking for initially, can Justin order one for me?

I'll keep checking this thread as well.

Thanks - Mark

He absolutely can. When you go in there, tell him I sent you over from talkbass. :bassist:

Let me know how it goes.

Yours truly,

I have a BaseX.oc5 which is incredible. I was wondering if there will be an option for ebony on the fretless versions as there is not on the BaseX.oc.

THere will most likely not be an ebony option at first. We are going to "optionize" the lines (Both basex.oc and the new one) after we get them rolling.

Is yours a fretless? I plunked for hours on one at a show we did outside of seattle and loved it. Going to get one for myself here pretty soon.

Yours truly,

Will do...Justin and I have know each other for years. He's a great guy and very knowledgeable...

He really is a cool dude.

I am not sure what he has up there in stock but I need to call him on monday either way. I will get back with you after I speak with him. :hyper:

He should have some Glock gear up there as well so you can slam through it also.

Yours truly,

Mine is not a fretless but I am so enamored of it that I want a fretless version to replace my MTD that I have become less than ecstatic with as time has gone on. I am worried about the longevity of the rosewood board when paired with rounds.

The guys who own them are not having issues with the Rwood. They do, however, keep it up really well. They are making sure to keep it clean and treated. That was one of my worries as well but so far no issues.

The sound is amazing as well with the Rwood. A bit more calm but the "MWah" and tonal definition/sustain is outstanding.

Yours truly,
