New Ibanez Talman Basses!

Aargh! I've been waiting for the 5-string version of these, but what's with the color choices only being natural or black!? With a future-retro Jetson's design like this, I want cool 50s colors! Where's the sherwood, mint, coral, ivory, navy, etc.? GAS avoided (or hopefully just delayed)?

Well, that answers the question about the short scale TMB30's coming in colors other than black. The ivory one looks gorgeous to me:

I hope this encourages Fender to put out some more mid or short scale basses.

The original Talman series guitars were criminally underrated, but have developed a cult following over the years.

I like that they're brought the design back for basses, but I kinda wish they made the headstocks plain like the original guitars were. It has a more traditional look and feel which suits the vintage styling of the bass more.

Seems the Sweetwater site is both incomplete and in error when it comes to the TMB30. Incomplete, in that it fails to list or mention that it is short scale, although the model number seems to infer it. In error, in that it claims it has a 2 band EQ. According to the Ibanez site, it's a passive bass and looking at the pic of the back, there is no battery holder.

I'd get really excited if, instead of new finishes or fancy burl tops, Ibanez chose to install graphite rods in most of their SR line. Their basses are always so cool looking and GAS-inducing, yet every one I've owned had noodle necks. The TR cover belongs on the bass, not in the case.

These have been out for a while. I played both models locally and they have a surprising good feel and tone. They ARE VERY "low end" beginner style basses however and feel somewhat "cheap".

man.. ibanez is awesome... in fact, most japanese bass manufacturers are... I just wish their importers, here in Brazil, would start bringing their better gear here.. and not just the cheapo, low-end lines..
