New marcus miller strings

I wonder how they will feel I have never played DR I use Daddario

Compared to D'Addario XL's, Super Bright Nickels are:
Much looser/bouncier feeling. Very snappy. Round core feel, but hex core construction.
Deeper sounding, no harshness to the mids. Very crunchy and expressive.

I like to say if you like a stiff feeling, muted sounding string then you WON'T like Super Brights. They are literally just like FatBeams but with a nickel winding which is why I'm not surprised to see Marcus as the latest player to switch to Super Brights.

I've been hearing so many good things about the Dunlops. Might have to pick up a set for my jazz V. How do the outer wraps feel in comparison to DR's? To they have that smooth, compressed feel, or are they fatter windings like D'Addario?
I have a set of the super bright nickels and they're not as smooth as steel DR's. I don't think any rounds, nickel or steel (excluding TI jazz rounds) are as smooth as DR's due to the compressed winding (or whatever it is).

Stiff b? I'm ok with that

I found them to be pretty much the same smoothness, depending on what DR's you're comparing. Sunbeams are smoother but they also use different wraps so that doesn't really count. SuperBrights are similar because they use the same compression winding method that DR uses. There are a few reasons why these are so similar to DR......

These are about as opposite from Super Brights as you can get though. They are much stiffer feeling and sound muted in comparison.
Uhh, I think you're talking about the regular Boomers. Roundcore Boomers are more similar to Sunbeams, way more flexible and less tight than Boomers. Compared to Sunbeams the GHS Roundcore Boomers seem to have a little less overtones and more fundamental. I haven't tried the SuperBrights yet, but I couldn't stand the D'Addario FlexSteels.

No, I meant Roundcore Boomers. I didn't really find them much less flexible than Boomers and certainly nowhere near Sunbeams or SuperBrights for flexibility. Just because they are Roundcore does not mean they are low tension. These use a larger core than Sunbeams so they are stiffer feeling, I think they were going more for the sound than for low tension. In fact, according to GHS, Coated Boomers are lower tension than both regular Boomers and and Roundcore Boomers. To me they have a similar feel to D'Addario XL's but sound better (smoother).

FlexSteels and SuperBrights have nothing in common, so if you like low tension strings give the SuperBrights a shot.

That's a real interesting development. I'm using the nickel Super Brights after 30 years using XL's, and I love them. Never thought anything would make me switch, but these did. Have not tried the steel SB's, though.

Not surpsised, and I'd stick with the nickels :) I'm telling you folks, these strings are special. Hopefully special in a way that you like, as I know not everybody will like them but there's nothing else that feels like these. HiBeams are the closest, but SuperBrights are lower tension and smoother feeling since they are nickels. You could give me a bass strung with XL's, or any of 10-15 other regular old hex core nickels and I couldn't tell them apart. Not SuperBrights though, they are totally different!
