Which cab do you have on the bottom? I had a chance to try the 58R 102 combo at GC yesterday and was blown away. I'm probably going modular with the set-up and pondering a single 102 @4 ohm or two at 8 ohm. The 104 is so light at 35 lbs, that it's a mute point almost.

Which 102? Could be 1 of 3
2 at 8 or combo and 1 at 8

I’ve got a 4ohm 102 Energy.
It’s enough for my gigs!
Mine is paired with a Little Mark Vintage 500.

Like you, I also thought hard about the 104, but I have been using a 2x10 cab on gigs for years.

The 2x10 is enough to keep up with my drummer easily enough.
(Covers band /pub rock)
If we do gigs where the drums go through the PA, then the bass goes through the PA too, and my cab is just a monitor.

You can’t go wrong either way!

I purchased the CMD 102 Pure along with the 151 Pure. Amazing… I use the combo alone for small shows and the two together for outdoor/larger venues.

I need the covers! The MarkBass site says pre-order but there is no link to order them. This is driving me crazy! Does anyone know when the new covers will be available?!?!?

I suspect that the fuse value will need to be increased also, you should contact MarkBass to get the correct value. Do not guess.

I am new to the forum but have played professionally for 59 years, I am 73 years old. When I had a road crew moving my stuff, I used heavier bass equipment like SVT or SWR, Mesa Boogie. Now I am semi-retired and have to move my own gear, I want the best sounding and lightest bass gear. I used a Markbass CMD 102P IV 2x10 300W bass combo as a gig backline and LOVED the tone. I had been using a Carvin micro 250W@4ohms with 2-10s and an extra 2-10 cab. but Carvin lately has had issues. I ordered the LittleMark 58R along with 2-8 ohm MB58R 102 PURE bass cabinets. I LOVED the tone and the lightweight of the speakers and amp but the amp had a faulty power switch and would turn itself off while I was playing. I ordered a replacement 58R but they weren't in stock and I needed an amp sooner,so I ordered the Little Mark IV and love it as well! In fact, I think I like it better than the 58R, the mute switch is better placed and I prefer the line out and effects loop in the back. I also like the feel of the knobs better and the chassis seems stronger. Otherwise, I can't see much of difference between them soundwise. Has anyone else compared the 58R to the Little Mark IV and preferred the IV to the 58R?

They both are 500W @ 4 ohms and 300W @ 8 ohms. As far as where they are made, dunno except the Little Mark IV feels more solid and better made, the 58R felt cheaper and had a bad power switch and a couple other issues new out of the box. To me they both sound great and sound the same.

Well, not quite. Both amps are 300@8ohms,
500@4ohms. The LM4 is assembled in Indonesia but is sent back to Italy for quality control check so both amps go thru Italy.
I also prefer the metal casing and control layout of the LM4. BUT, I'd imagine that they are the same amp sonically.
Given the choice, LM4 for me.
P.S. my current MarkBass gear is all assembled in Indonesia and no problems at all.

Curious as to the shutting off behavior-bad power switch? VST repair ?

Hey all, I'm new to Markbass products. I've used Genz Benz and Trace Elliot for years, and I'm currently using a GK rig (the Fusion 1200S through a NEO IV 212). Although I'm happy with the GK, I'm looking for a small and somewhat more portable combo for a soul and blues project. I'm impressed by the MB58R CMD 102 PURE combo and started looking into Markbass because of Tommy Shannon (and many other great players) endorsing them. The question I have is can anyone tell me why Markbass moved away from the VLE and VPF filters on the older discontinued CMD 102P combo in favor of the 3-way rotary switch (flat/scooped-mid/FSW) and Old School filter that is on the MB58R CMD 102 PURE combo? Is it an improvement, or does it remove some of the tone-shaping flexibility of the previous configuration? I was considering taking advantage of the holiday deals through MF to buy the combo, but I wanted some clarification on that topic first. Maybe I should look at finding an older model? Thanks in advance for any info/insight you can provide.

The new Old School filter is the same as the previous VLE filter but the new scoop contour is too severe for my tastes and I never use it. I personally miss the variable scoop of the VPF filter on my new CMD 121P combo, but I can still get a good sound from it using just the four band EQ. My other Markbass amps (Markacoustic AC 101 and Micromark 801) have the VPF filter which I find very useful.

I am intrigued by the new 58R offerings. Any updates on how they are working in the wild? Are the plastic cabs easily dented? Does the 68hz bass knob seem too high for a bass knob (thinking five string application here)?

I've had my 102 energy cab for a while now.
It has held up well on lots of gigs and rehearsals.
It gets loud, sounds good and is so light.
I look after my equipment, and it hasn't had any issues as far as dents or scratches.
Lots of PA speakers are not made from timber anymore and the ones my band uses have also held up really well.
