Been reading TB for a while now and decided to join. I'm 18 and have been playing bass for about 3.5 years. I currently play a Modulus FB4 through a small Trace Elliot Combo at home!

Just started a new band, most of my others have been far less serious and have just fell apart for various reasons! Looking to get a half stack soon and a decent DI box too!

Hopefully I'll learn a lot from here and be able to offer some help as well!

Just another new guy introduction. I'm one of those middle aged newbies following a dream. I played guitar in several bands until I was 24. Now 20 years later I am finally playing Bass (always wanted to, but life happened). Went to the local Jr. College and took a theory course and now I play in the Jazz band.

It's nice to find a place thats fairly friendly. :)

What's up all? From the looks of things, y'all have put together an impressive operation.

Fender man since 1980. My only basses are a '74 P-Bass and a 2004 American Series Jazz. I run 'em through a SWR Redhead and a Zoom BFX-708. Love lots of styles, but currently hitting Motown and soul grooves with pals.

just wanted to join in on the megathread, heh.

the smileys are cute and ive been reading a lot of threads looking to make a decision between an SWR 4004 2x10 / 1x15 setup or a GK 700rb-II 2x10 / 1x15 setup.

i played classical guitar back in the day, but stopped playing due to an accident i had in the past, so i decided to start playing again, but i couldn't push myself to purchase an electrical guitar and picks to go along with that sort of purchase.

anyways, i went ahead and purchased the following bass guitar to fit my needs:

Hi Everyone,

My name is Rick and Im brand new to the bass game. Won't tell you how old I am, just old. I was in a rock band back in the mid seventies. No I did'nt play I was the sound engineer.
Some of the best times of my life. Just trying to recapture some the good old days. Keep groovin.

Good luck trying to choose wich rig,they are both really nice.
I had a similar situation and went with the lightest gear,
cause my back not what it used to be. I went with a
Ampeg PB250 (14 lbs) and a Hartke 2X10 Transporter(32 lbs)
and a SWR Workingmans 15 (45 lbs).It has proven to
be a good combination.

I am thinking about building my next bass, probably something pointy, eighties style. And probably going to get rid of the Diesel 4x10 and get a Carvin or Acme to take it's place.

I don't currently have a band, just been jamming around town and recording to be ready for my next band experience. I can play almost any instrument you can think of, which help for recording, but bass is my home instrument.

Hi all! I just found this site the other day.

I have been playing guitar for 8 years now (nylon string, electric, etc), though unfortunately in that time I havent had the $$ to buy a decent instrument.

About 4 years ago I decided to start playing bass as well and I have been loving it ever since. At the moment I have a Hartke 350W head and a 400W GK quadbox. I play a squier p-bass but have just ordered a Musicman Stingray (honeyburst) which should be arriving in a couple of weeks. Can't wait.

I also play/write songs in a band, feel free to check out our website!

It seems like theres lots of cool people here, and I look forward to being part of the community!

Hello Talkbass!!!! Im thrilled to be a part of this forum and Ive heard from a goodfriend of mine (woodchuck) that some of you have been inspired by my work. TLC "Waterfalls" is an example. I look forward to getting and giving as much info as possible from (and to) everyone here. I own a Ritter Classic 5, a Sadowsky 5, a 1988 Pedulla MVP 4(fitted with piccalo strings and a midi pickup), a 1971 Fender Jazz and a Ken Smith CR 6.........but im ALWAYS on the grind for something new!¡!¡!¡ :ninja:

ahah my real name is angel ( trust me its a lot more manly in my native tongue ) and i started playing bass about...2 months ago and what can i say im pretty much in love with it, look forward to getting to know you :D im 17 right now, and im playing on a cherry red Yamaha BB300.

Well hello everyone. Im a 15 year old bassist from Finland.
I play mostly hard rock and rock( Dio, Iron Maiden, Rainbow, Deep Purple).
I've played about 8 months, and i already play in 3 bands-
Must be because i've practiced like hell.... :p

My name is Wayne and I live in Frisco, Texas, which is a suburb of Dallas. I've been playing bass for years and years, but have only recently rededicated myself to playing and performing. I was in several bands in the '80's, playing in the Houston area. I was married to a terrible woman that hated when I played, so I gave up for a while (boy, was I stupid!). I finally got rid of the terrible wife (hooray!) and now I have one that ENCOURAGES me to play!

Anyway, I'm 39, play rock bass, and I'm looking for a band.

oh, yeah... guess it's time I posted something here, too...

hiya fellow TBers... been here, done that, and bought the t-shirt (and it's been thru the wash cycle twice, already!).

I used to play a mix of classic rock/top 40/originals ... nowadays, I guess it's just classic rock and originals -- ha! Actually, I have a pretty diverse appreciation of music, but it's probably fairest to say that if you heard it on the radio in the 60's, 70's, or 80's, I like it and have jammed with it at one point or another... less so with the 90's and current stuff, but there's definitely material there that I like, too.

hi my name is parag and i'm from nepal. anyone else from nepal here??
i play jazz, blues and funk. i play a indonesian bass called prince hg-22 don't think you guys know...it's has a j bass body (also a similar pickup arrangements) but the neck is more like p bass. thinking of putting d'addario chromes on them.
besides that i like drawing, painting, using graphic softwares such as adobe photoshop, illustrator...breaking into using after effects...also like home recording, but i do not have proper equipments (tho i still do it).
