Hello Talk Bass, I've just joined because I heard a lot of good about what you do here.

I used to play a lot of bass guitar until about 10 years ago, and I stopped. Played all sorts of styles from rock, pop, blues and irish and english folk music. Fell out with the band and just couldn't face getting another together.


But about six months ago I bought myself a very cheap acoustic only Stag bass for £150 ($250) and I am loving it. I'm getting some wonderful sounds out of it and playing it solo quite a lot. It works! And I'm having fun too.

I play a lot of Irish folk music and do play the flute and the acoustic guitar a lot too. But I am loving getting back on the bass again.

Hi, My name is Bob. I have had a Westone ThunderII Bass for a few years now but the frets were starting to wear down a bit so I bought a cheap Washburn XB100. I found this site when looking for reviews on a cheap bass to replace my westone but while raking through the forums I saw the post asking about defretting a Bass, now seeing as how the frets were the problem on my old one I decided to give it a go! Not built up the courage yet but I definately am not selling it.

Hello!

My name is Agis Silverfish. I'm from the Canaries, Spain.

Well, my story is a bittersweet one. I had been in bands here and there when I was a teenager, but I got tired of it all that and I sold my gear.

About ten years later I began to get nostalgic for bass playing and I bought the cheapest instrument I could get. I got back to playing a couple of years ago. I tried to teach myself, but I became stuck after some time, and I've just started playing with an instructor. Things are getting better!

Ups, my style is metal, but I'll play anything that makes me a stronger bass player.

Any special precautions you could warn me of before i muck it up! Was yours one piece as well? What model?
Mines is gorgeous and i'd be gutted to lose it but it does sound like ****! Any tips for P/U or any other mods? :bassist:

Mine was a Spectrum. Had a bolt on neck, but I did not remove the neck.

My only advice is to mask off the fretboard on either side of the frets with tape, so that you won't chip out too much wood.

umm...Hi my name is Valerie...I play bass(no surprise) I am new at it and practice as much as i can considering I don't actually own a bass. I am totally in love with the instrument and if anyone were to try to take that away i would bash them with the body, and strangle them with the strings....

....did i mention i was hostile?

Playing without a bass? how do you do that? Virtual fretboard?

whats up people... im Joseph and i recentlly bought an Ibanez SR300DX lefty.... yep.. you read correct.. i am a lefty. hehe.. oh well.. This is my first instrument EVER.. never played anything, but i have always LOVED music. Surprising to see that i havent gotten into to it sooner.. im 20 and a serving as a Marine.. I had an epiphany one day to just play bass.. 311`s P-Nut is God and he has lit the spark.. "yo P-Nut, Beat that thing"... that was the clincher.. i just got to learn.. i am as green as they come...

I have everything but an amp... i need assistance, new or used??? and what name should i buy and what should i look for....... thanks alot :D

Mochafrap...been hanging out at starbucks too much...played a lot of bass during high school and college...sold all my equipment to pay for training for my present day job which actually PAYS the bills (Rick 4001, Steinberger L2, '68 Fender Precision w/ Jazz neck ... boo...hoo...what was I thinking). Now at the ripe old age of 43 w/ wife and four kids-bought an rbx 374 to get back into it and lovin every minute of it!!! By the way...how in the heck do I get the city in the little "location" corner in the upper right hand margin...

Hi, my name is Lesley. I've been playing bass for just over a year now. I'm really a keyboard player, but can't understand why I never picked up the bass years ago :hmm: I am now totally addicted to playing it, and I have neglected my family ever since I started! I play mainly keyboards at church, but quite regularly get to play bass there too, it's great playing with a band rather than just being a legend in my living room :D

I just recently went from playing 4 string to 5 (bought myself a new bass for christmas). Wow, all those low notes I could only imagine playing are now a reality! All this talk about bass - I've been away from it too long, my bass is calling me - oh, oh, I can't resist......sorry..... have to run.....byyeee!
