Hi all. I'm Ryan. I've been playing bass for 4 years and about two months. Yes. I know the exact date I started. Nerd? :hmm: :D

I'm from Savannah, GA and I play in a band called The Round Table. Our PV website is my homepage, for anyone interested.

My current setup is:
EB/MM Stingray 4
Conklin Early Groove Tools Seven String (actually says "Conklin" on the headstock)
Acoustic 360/361PP (or, simply, the 361. It's in the mail as we speak.)
DR Sunbeams
Monster Cables

I love this website and I wish I would have found it maybe two years ago or something. There's lot's of knowledge on here.

I am Scottie from small town Nebraska.

I have played since summer of 98, so that makes six years. I took lessons for a year to get the basics, but if I could find a really good teacher, I would resume lessons. My first teacher was great, and he set me free after a year telling me to use my ears and create my own style. I still have a lot to learn.

I played trumpet from 6th grade until my sophmore year, then switched to baritone. I think playing trumpet really helped me because my right hand fingers already had some dexterity when I decided to start Bass. Trumpet also helped me learn melody. Baritone was fun, and I had grown tired of trumpet.

I love my G&L ASAT, which you can tell by the posts I have made raving about it. I like to run my Ampeg combo with my Acme low B2 to fill out the mids.

My name is Hector, and I'm from the south east of England. I've been playing bass for a year, but I'm one of the few bassists in my school, so I get a lot of practice and gigs. I'm open minded about what music I play and listen to, I just love playing the bass. I spend most of my time doing stuff either necessary or realated to bass. :hyper:

Hey, I'm Alex, heard about TalkBass from MX, thought I'd drop by. I'm 12 years old, been playing bass for a little over a year. I play in my school's concert band as well as the jazz band, and I'm trying to learn the ins and outs of this amazing instrument. Hopefully I can contribute to this forum, it seems like a great place. The only thing I don't like is your lack of the :amaze: smiley, but that doesn't really matter.

Hi, I'm mr. squawk, I play bass, guitar, piano, sing, and write tunes. I'm involved in a recording project with my friend Thomas TallChief, whom I think is one of the greatest bass players around. I play some of the guitar parts on some tunes with him, and we found a good drummer finally (getting ready to hit the studio this month, yay!) Check out the tunes at http://www.tallchief.com and let us know what you think. Great to find a good bass forum with this many people!

Hey. I've been a member for a few months and finally decided to look through a few other forums besides the bass/amp/effect trio. I live in Slidell, La (about 45 min. north of the French quarter in New Orleans). I've been playing for about 14 years. I'm not currently in a functioning band (work schedule sucks). I stumbled a cross the forum when looking for information on G&L basses. I wish I was able to contribute as much as I've gotten in the last few months. Thanks for reading.

Mike

Hi, I'm Steph and I play bass in the Denver 'burbs. I've played for almost 3 years, most of that time in some band or other. The current band is Guy in the Middle, if anyone cares- Link Removed I yell at the instrument catalogs I get in the mail for only having 2 pages of basses.

Hey everyone. My names Jason and I'm new to the site, and new too bass. I've only been playing for about a month, but already I have performed a couple of covers with more lines up. I've performed:

Coldplay - Clocks
Goo Goo Dolls - Slide

To perform:

Queen - Another one Bites The Dust
Evermore - It's Too Late

What I've learn't:

Incubus - Megalomaniac
Incubus - Agoraphobia
Cream - Sunshine Of My Love
Deep Purple - Smoke On The Water.

All of the above songs are pretty basic, but pretty good for only playing for a month. I'm already in a band, and i've already began writing my own tabs. I take bass very seriously, probably my most expensive hobby.

Anyway, I'm new, and in need of a few friends on here :P So, send me a buddy request or something. Talk to you all again sometime soon.

I can't really say that I'm new to TalkBass; I've been on here for a few years with various names. Anyhoo, I've been playin bass since 7th grade... about 8 years now. I've played in bands since then, up until about 2 years ago when I enlisted in the Marine Corps. I'm stationed at Camp Hansen, which is in Okinawa, Japan. I was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio, but I've since spent time in North Carolina and the DC area. I dig Tom Waits and old school punk rock, and I really only dislike opera. That's about all she wrote...

hector = best name EVER.

Hi there. I'm Tommy, I started playing bass when I was 10, which was over 40 years ago ( I'm old ). This site came highly recommended as the place for multi string/extended range bassists. I hope to learn stuff here, and hope to be able to contribute something worthwhile in return. Seems like a nice place..... :)

My name is Eric, 27, live in Tempe, Az. Been playing bass about 2 years, just starting to get out and jam a bit with guitar players and drummers when I can find some to let me sit in with. Working on saving some $$ for some decent gear, but having as much fun as possible with the little I got now...
:ninja:

What's up guys, my name is Mike, I'm 21 and have been a bassaholic since I was a Sophmore in high school. I just picked up an EB Music Man Stingray 4 in Translucent Teal 2 weeks ago and decided to register here. I listen/play punk rock with slight elements of psychobilly. Some bands that I have considered to be influcences are AFI, Tiger Army, Against Me, Falling Sickness, and Social Distortion, just to name a few.

Oh and I also enjoy long walks on the beach, making love to your mother and dippin' my feet in a warm bucket of maonaise. :D
