Hey. I'm Dave, in a band named Heroincredible(hence the name...). Pronounced hero-incredible..there have been mixups and someone tried to buy drugs from us or some such thing. Been playing for about 4 years(not really collectively, there was a spell where I would play once every 3 months, but one day my buddy who is a drummer called me up, and since then I've been playing pretty much every day for hours on end.)

Ive got two 5 stringers(Ibanez SR405 and Rockbass Streamer Standard). I'm 19, live in Canada, im a sociology major going into my third year. I've lived in about 6 different cities/towns in Canada, and also lived in Africa for 5 years. Don't live with my parents anymore(thank jeebuz), but I occasionally visit them down in Houston.

Um, it's me, folks! Let's hear it for shamless self-promotion and the "Introduce Yourself" column! :D

I'm not a totally new member here, but my main cyber-home is ActiveBass.com. Would love to hang out here more, but with a full-time day job and playing most weekends, I really need to watch my Internet time. Only 24 hours in the day, y'know!

I'll be sure to join as a supporting member soon, after this weekend's gig (a.k.a. "the check is in the mail"). Honestly!

I'm new here and nice to meet you.

I play at the Salt Lake City Calvary Chapel 4-5 times a week, in a big room (holds about 500-600), sometimes filled.

Am 54 and played something or other since I won my first guitar in a poker game at 11 yrs old. (had to buy the amp)

Fender Victor Bailey is my main axe,

and play through a miked amp. I practice a lot, mainly praise and worship songs with a C-&-W-Rock edge -- we're pretty lively for a church band. Usually.

You can catch us streaming live at:

Our pastor is a 'tell-it-like-it-is' kind of guy with a past. He hosts "Bikers for Christ" to give you an idea.

I love it! Check it out....

Cheers, Michael

Yo,
I'm Rich and I've been playing bass for just under a year.My two favourite bassists are Flea and Cliff Burton, so i play a lot of fast slapping [chili peppers basslines like get up and jump, blackeyed blonde and skinny sweaty man, also writing my own], but i also do the whole burton wah-solo thing.I'm also creating a kind of melancholic distorted style of my own.
I have a band where the lineup is never complete, but we feel complete cos of the brotherhood we have among eachother. We have these monster jams and are writing material, but our singer/rythm guitarist quit so we are looking for another one.Our only other bad thing is equipment, we are all in education,so we can't get jobs to feed our music addiction, and my current equipment ain't much good [4 string squier p bass, korg AX10B and 20 W stagg amp].But the jams we have are still awesome, and gigging is our dream. But my parents want me to go to university etc, all i really wanna do is play music,Anyone else share my problem?[i know this ain't therapy or anything, but hey]

cheerz

So yea, like the title says, I'm new to Talkbass. I'm a Vet over in the bass section of Musiciansforums, so I'm not a total N00B.

About Myself:
I'm a Taurus that likes gazing at the stars, walking on the beach, and good poetry. I play an Ibanez GSR 190 and a Spector Q5 through a Fender Frontman 25B connected to a SWR LA 15. I've been playing for a little over 3 years now. I'm in a band and we've been together for over 2 years, 3 this October (I think).

Here are some pictures of the basses and myself.

So yea, I'm looking foward to becoming addicted to this and spending alot of time on this. :D have fun

Hey I'm Kate and I only just received my Bass about a week ago. I don't have a clue what I'm doing! Just sort of plug it in, stick my "bass-line-removed-practice-CD" into the CD player and play what sounds ok with the vaguest hope that one day I'll get better. :)

I'm the groove reaper and I've come for you all! *cue sinister laugh and evil music* haha just kidding my name's Matt and I have been playing bass for a little over 2 years. I pretty much taught myself to play and people say I'm amazing but I don't think I'm anything special (trying not to let the compliments go to my head). They're aren't a whole lot of types of music I don't listen to...maybe only country and rap. I listen to pretty much anything as long as the musicians show some sign of talent and I'm not just talking about bassists. I like to play stuff that challenges me and helps me get better...I started out playing Metallica now I've been getting into alot of Rush. I would like to know if what everyone says about me is warrented...the toughest thing I can play is probably yyz or la villa stranggiato by Rush. Would that be considered advanced for someone with only 2 years experience? I know I'm capable but am I amazing? If anyone can bestow their infinite wisdom on me it would be great. Thanks.

hey whats up,

as you can probobly tell, im new here. I am a converted guitarist, i was as many people said, a very good guitar player, but i never felt satisfied with my instrument, like i new i had some ability to create music, but im not using the right instrument. Origianlly i was going to play bass, but in my young , naive years, i was told by all my friends that guitar was cooler , and played guitar, and put off bass till now. Ive been playing for a few months now, and i feel much more at home on a bass, the neck , the strings, and the role of the rhythm section you have , it fits me much better , and i am glad i have found my instrument.

As far as music goes , im a huge prog fan, my 2 favorite prog bands have to be rush and yes , which also have 2 of my main influences , geedly lee , and chris squire. I also like metal occasionally , stuff like metallica, i like cliff burton, megadeth, iron maiden, steve harris is another huge influence on me, jag panzer , and nevermore. I also love blues-rock/blues, srv, tommy shannon, another influence, bb king, albert king, Free, more blues rock here , Led zeppelin, i love jpj, hes the best. Im just getting into fusion and jazz and stuff, my interest has grown with my bass playing.

Well thats me , a convert lol , im a pretty mellow guy, i read more than post , so i wont have 1000 post or anything lol
peace :smug:

I've been posting here for about 3 weeks or so, but I havent done this yet so, Meh, here I go...

Been playing for 4 years, Im 16 now, so do the math. :D
To be honest, the guy who got me started on bass was Twiggy Ramirez(Jeordie White, for you APC lovers...) From M. Manson. Then I got into TOOL and RATM and those are the bands I listen to the most, I also really like The Mars Volta and Mudvayne, And they too frequent my WMP playlist. I'm also a fan of Power metal and Death metal. Basically I like all music, Besides country and the current hiphop, I like jazz, fusion, 80's hip hop/rap(Run Dmc, N.W.A) and just about anything funk.

I'm pretty laid back, Really dont like confrontations and the like, but will if i feel like i have to prove something. People always say Im good for my age, Since I frequent guitar center. I think Im a good player, but I jut dont want to sound arrogant when I say I think I am. You folks should know what Im talking about. I most likely wont be posting much here, Since I frequent the Tooltabs.net forums, Which are funny as all hell and well, There really are no rules.

And thats me ,Anything else ya wanna know, PM me. :smug:

HI Daniel here, 25 years already, feels like 21

Lead singer and bass player in a danish hard rock band.

played bass for like 3 years now.
I own a Cort action4, that I have adjusted for perfect sound :)
Tomorrow I think I'll go buy a new bass, another Cort I really like the quality and the price ;)

I tried other basses, such as fender and Ibanez, Epiphone, But I really think Cort got something.

I use a Behringer 15W amp for home-rehearsal and at the rehearsal room I have some sort of home-build amp around the 300 W
