Hi all!

I'm Peter,
Have been playing bass around 13 years now.
Playing in a party coverband: Link Removed
And lately also in a pure 70's rock cover band playing mostly Deep Purple, Mountain, Led Zeppelin, etc..
I'm a firm believer that every (hobby) musician should have 2 bands - one that maybe doesn't play the songs that makes you smile all night but plays out a lot, and one band that only play those obscure odd songs You really get down with.

I have yet to purchase my dream gear (and at the moment that would be EBS Fafner head and 4x12 cab, and probably a Warwick Thumb 5).
In waiting for that to happen I have collected a number of lesser brands, but very much functional.
I'm a gearoholic, so right now there are 5 basses and 3 amps lying around... But the best is still to come... Chasing that dream.

Whats up everyone,

I discovered this site a few weeks ago - what a great resource! I'm an electrical engineer by profession but I've been playing electric bass for about 25 years now, self taught. I cut my teeth in a Beatles cover band and have played in a few different working top 40 bands over the years. I sort of stopped playing when I became the father of 3 daughters but now that they're not infants anymore I am getting back into it. I'm hoping to someday purchase and learn to play DB and see where that goes...

I'm currently jamming in a little power trio (sometimes acoustic trio), gigging here and there in small clubs/bars/coffee shops doing covers of old Police, Zeppelin, Squeeze, Todd Rundgren, Bowie, Beatles, U2 ...stuff the three of us have loved since we were kids. It's great fun.

I love jazz and different types of world music (esp Brazilian) but have never really played those styles, partly because I'm not talented enough and partly because I've never met the right musicians. I would love to play those styles someday and have been absorbing and learning as much as I can on my own.

Yamaha TRB5
Carvin LB75 Fretless
Aquilar DB659
SWR Stereo 800
SWR Goliath Jr/Big Ben

Benn lurking here for a while and just yesterday i got "my" bass!!
I used to drum in a highschool band 11 years ago and yesterday i got to borrow the bass from my mate who bassed in our band!
I'm so fired up, even made me a set-up that allows me to rehearse through a headset+earplugs without bothering my g/f! lol!
I was set on just learning tabs etc, but after reading Paul's posts on the Lessons/Articles threads i decided to all the way and learn notes while i'm at it, get it "right" from the beginning..
As i'm not in a band, just learning this for my own satisfaction, i have no deadlines to meet, nor anyone to satisfy so i figured going the full mile won't hurt anyone ;)

The bass guitar is a Aria Pro II, it's lightweight and good to handle. It's been stored for 10 years and it's still more or less in tune. Dunno if this is normal or what.....
Anyway, i'm very happy about this bass. I've done some simple excersises on it and it feels "right" for me at this time, light, easy going and forgiving..

Hope to learn more about this wonderful instrument as time goes, guitars were never my scene, the low end is more my kind of thing ;)

I am not new but I have not posted on here so long now that I don't think it even counts. But I wanted to know is there somewhere we can go to just vent. I got into trouble a long time ago about posting in the wrong area, and well instead of telling me where to go nicely, I got kicked around for being a newby. Well I am not so new at all this posting on the internet thing anymore, but I want to make sure that it is ok to post a thread here, just somewhere we could all go and just vent about love, life, school, family and friends. So if someone could lead me in the right area. Thanks a million.

Hello everybody!

I'm a 23 years old bassist from Spain. I've readed this cool forum too many times but this is the first time I write something on it.

Really great, and too many knowledge here. I hope I can help anyone!

Off Topic's usually the best forum for that, unless it's music related, then Miscellaneous would work fine.

Hey All....My name is Eric.....and I play Bass....I've had a love for music since I was a boy, and now I get to make some, instead of just listening..A couple weeks back, I went to visit a friend of mine that has a garage band ( Yup....they actually play in his garage....hehe). They had no one to play bass, so they asked me, knowing how much I like music. I found myself a nice Squire P lefty....(yup...I'm a dufus....hehe), and a Fender Rumble60. I spent a week just fooling around with some lesson books, and reading threads on TalkBass. Yesterday I got my big first practice with other player....and guess what?....it was INCREDIBLE...I was off some of the time.....Ok....alot of the time.....hehe....but when I was on it sounded so good...'m looking forward to learning, and messing up, and just having fun learning to be.....good?.....well we'll just have to see about that.....hehe

some of my favorites include....

Lynryd Skynryd
Metallica
Judas Priest
AC/DC
Def Lepard

....and of course....
The Mighty ZZ Top....

...above all, I just love good music....I have about 600 CDs in my collection ranging from pop to country to old Metal to Southern Rock....

feel the rythym.....hear the roar.... :bassist:

Hi, I'm new here (obviously)

I play an Ibanez ATK400. Ibanez is run by morons; discontinuing instruments every 5 minutes in favour of something new.

I like modern rock (like Nickelback, Theory of a Deadman and Audioslave, to be specific) and skacore.

I've been playing bass (exclusively) for three years now, and I don't seem to have improved at all in the past two years.

That's all.
