So, I don't know how to explain this but here it goes.
I've been using a first gen GK 1001RB and I've used a bunch of class D amps, but alas never any
Mesa stuff
Here's my thing, they are all loud and stuff but when I plug into the GK, it "feels" better. I don't know how to describe it, and yes I've read all the threads about class D here to ad nauseum.
I guess I am asking, how does it "feel" in the booty department from the cats that have one?

It is absolutely the most bootylicious Class D amp out there. But you can dial it down from full on Kardashian to Katie Holmes depending on your needs. In my opinion anyway.
Not completely on point, but I gigged an Ampeg B4R through as many as 4 cabs for years because like you, I don’t care for tubes but AM addicted to power. The first “satisfying” class D experience I had was with a GB ShuttleMax (yes, the solid state side alone). I think the fact that we’re a generation or two beyond those amps means you should be able to find lightweight “booty” capability no problem. A great time to be alive... I’m thinking about picking up a d-800 for comparison/backup duty...
Don't get me wrong, I`ll use tubes in the preamp if they come in there. I'm just not interested in maintaining a tube amp and hauling it around
I'm from the Anthony Jackson school of coming through the studio monitors sound, I don't sound like him. Nobody does I’ve said many times, I carry my D-800 in my gig bag as backup, it’s perfect for that, though I do use a fully heavily loaded gym bag lol. And when my WD comes in, it will be one of my GK’s out in trade, not the Mesa.
I've owned a BB750, and although it had great OD sound, my Streamliner 900 gets closer to all tube sound and feel than the BB750 does, IMO... For comparison, I also have a Mesa Bass 400 and have owned an SVT as well...
I can't speak for the WD-800, though - I've yet to play thru one...
Hi, Question regarding the WD800 Limit light. Running Gain and Master at around 12:00 and find the
limiter light is on more than recommended. Using passive bass, not boosting EQ (much). I didnt 'think' Im
overly loud, granted Hathor 1203s, arent the most sensitive speakers. So is this kind of normal?
What negative effects can this have on the amp etc (limit light on too much)?
What controls can help tame the limiting?
Raising the HPF I imagine. Does damping setting have any effect on the Limit Led ?

The cabinet's sensitivity is directly related to how much power is needed to attain your target volume. For example, a cabinet that's 3dB more sensitive requires 1/2 the power for the same volume.
Rolling the HPF frequency up a little bit will help, but you may need to turn the master volume down a bit too.

Running 2 8 ohm cabs . Sensitivity seems be documented at 94db as well. - Thanks
I've run a pair of H1203s and the limiter light never comes one (plenty loud for a 10-piece band). iirc master around 10-11:00.
Maybe do some cable swaps, or is the bass not putting out enough level?

That's about 6dB less sensitivity than the Subway cabinets, so for similar volume, the 800 watts would need to be multiplied by a factor of four (10 x log 4) = 6dB, resulting in needing an amp with 3200 watts RMS for the same volume.
This is why sensitivity is so important IF you need high maximum SPL. Of course, higher sensitivity may come with trade-offs of less LF extensions. voicing limitations, etc. so it's important to balance everything that you might require out of a speaker to be sure you get what you really need.
