New mesa subway amps and cabs!

Keep in mind I play in a hard rock band and I never play without overdrive/distortion. Unfortunately most of my dirt pedals sound bad with the cab, even with the tweeter all the way off. They are just too harsh. I managed to find a couple that are good with it and 1 (Southampton Fifth Gear) that sounds really good with it.
I will keep the higher gain stuff for the svt I guess. Other than that, it is a very good sounding cab clean or with a little crunch.

I agree, if you are planning on using a cabinet such as this, which has an extended and fairly flat mid voicing, you are really going to need top roll off some of the high end (or even high mid). This also depends on how the pedals themselves are voiced (some intentionally insert added mid voicing to keep from getting too muddy on dark cabinets)..

The D-800+ or WD-800 would be a better choice for this kind of application IMO due to the more tuneable eq.

*edit* If I'm getting a good sound out of my D800+ amp and cab w/15" faital and a very lightly blended distortion (using post eq distortion DI), would a cab sim be needed?

No, and with light distortion (overdrive), you aren't going to suffer from this issue nearly as much because the harmonic distribution is very different than full on distortion.

I've owned no less than 4 different SVT 810e cabs, and every Mesa Powerhouse cab except the PH412... IME/IMO, the Ampeg cabs sound like they have a blanket over them when compared to the clarity of a typical Mesa cab - maybe it's that clarity of voice that's making your pedals sound in a way that you're not accustomed to...

Every once in a while there will be a defective tube, sometimes shipping can aggravate it too.

So, I don't know how to explain this but here it goes.

I've been using a first gen GK 1001RB and I've used a bunch of class D amps, but alas never any
Mesa stuff :(

Here's my thing, they are all loud and stuff but when I plug into the GK, it "feels" better. I don't know how to describe it, and yes I've read all the threads about class D here to ad nauseum.

I guess I am asking, how does it "feel" in the booty department from the cats that have one?

Totally agree for the 750. A 800 with a Bottle rocket could be killer too.
