New mesa subway amps and cabs!

I ran the D800 at rehearsal tonight. The cab at the jam space is an Epifani T-212 with a blown tweeter so it's usually pretty thuddy and indistinct. I did happen to have newish GHS balanced nickels which have more top end than my usual broken-in sunbeams... it did seem more articulate and intelligible but there are a lot of factors in play there... It was weird bringing the master volume to 11:30 for a rehearsal, but I know the knobs are designed to be effective through 100% of their range unlike most amps, so I wasn't worried that it was out of juice.

I do wish the high mids were voiced at least 2x as high. But I have an 800hz knob on one bass and 1k on the other, so I can use the on -board pre for a mid bump when I need it.

I'm really looking forward to next Friday when I take the whole rig including fEARful 12/6s out for a gig where I'm providing backline... always love getting to hear my gear from in front of the stage!

Absolutely love my D800 through every Greenboy I've owned.. presently an F112..

Friend of mine gigged my WD-800 with his Epiphani 3x10 last weekend, set to that "tube grind" recommendation in the manual. Relative to his GB Shuttle, it was mega-phat. Sat in the mix like heaven. But he's so precise and locked-in the way he plays - very accomplished, that I missed those super crystal-clear highs ...only a little

A friend of mine has it running with a D800+, it's a monster of a cab. Plenty of low end and a nice midrange. I've seen his band a bunch of times live and I really dig his tone through it.

I can also take credit for his rig, he played through my WD800 and Berg cabs at a gig we opened for them and then he went out bought what he thought was the same head. He slightly got that wrong but still made an excellent choice. As far as the cab he said it was the best sounding in the store.

Not. I often double - 2 gigs back to back - and sometimes need to set up both rigs in advance. I couldn't cover the basses with just one.

I admit that I'm feeling jealous when talking with a bass player that plays a lot (more than me actually). My average is 1 gig per month. Happy for you @TomB

Well, doubling happens less & less as the years pile up. But I find having a back-up rig provides a sense of security, even if it’s at home. Usually I just make sure I have a DI on hand in case of failure on a gig.

This is not right!

First time out of the box and this amp, sounds amazing!

I have not been happy with most tube preamp deals until now.
I can cop a nasty B15 tone or any goofy tone that I normally use.
I knew that the HPF would be good but, that damping thang is the shizzle.
To me, it helps bring that old skool tube feel with the HPF.
The mid-cut with the make-up gain is a nice touch also.
And again, I like the looks of this as well

Oh and this amp just renew my faith in class D amps as far as feel
and response

I gather it’s to reduce the chance of the slight discoloration the rubber feet can sometimes leave on tolex. I used a tool chest liner sheet.
