New mesa subway amps and cabs!

My question was to Agedhorse.
I noticed I had flipped the switch on the back of my WD 800 from 8ohms to the 4/2ohmns setting
but, I was running an 8ohmn speaker. Will that cause damage or harm?

Andy will give you the straight poop and edjumacate you along the way, but a quick answer is: no. The 2 ohm switch setting will limit the amount of power the head drives into a 8 ohm load. I've done it and it sounds great. The tone does change somewhat and I'm sure Andy will mention that as well.

Thanks!
Can he, it seems he's suspended right now. I tried to PM him. Can't

Andy is suspended for, I believe, 30 days minus about 3 ... so hopefully he'll be back to TB and answering our questions soon.
In the mean time, other than our fellow TB/Mesa owners, you can also reach out to the Mesa CS folks here via @MesaBoogie

Hey, kids, I came to ask Agedhorse a question about my new WD 800 but, someone just told me he's been suspended :(

Is this true? What happened?

Is this why I am seeing the upside down Agedhorse avatars like, a flag upside down: The practice has its origin in a distress signal; displaying a flag in this manner is "a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property"

yes, and feel free to join us in what is apparently our only form of acceptable support for Andy under these circumstances ... fly the agedhorse avatar pic any way that strikes your fancy.
here is the pic ....

Basically cuts the power down by like 1/3 ish. Easier to engage the Tube Emulation without pissing off all of your band mates. I can’t really decide what I like better. High damping on matching ohm setting or Medium damping with 2 ohm switched on.

Bebop, you’re giving me the heebees with all the knobs counterclockwise like that maing! Gotta give my WD a hug tonight let it knows everything’s ok. Congrats on the purchase man. It’s some stunning engineering. Love mine so much. Especially the post preamp/EQ DI.
That picture is from right out of the box, still had the hang tags on it :D
Fear not, those knobs have been turned into all sorts of patterns since :D

Tube Emulation?
Maybe I'm misunderstanding you. You know it's a real tube in there and not some emulation? :D

There is time emulation within the power amp circuitry, and it kicks in at lower volumes with the 2/4 ohm switch in the 2 ohm position (with an 8 or 4 ohm speaker load).

If I remember correctly, an 8 ohm load in 2 ohm mode is ~300 watts.
