Do you think the WD800 will be as sensitive to tube rolling as the WA?
I've spent some time rolling tubes and can name 5 amps that changing the pre-amp tube(s) made no difference in tonality.

The WA was the most sensitive and in a good way.

The impact if V2 is folded into the output management circuitry (in some ways similar to the concept used in the D-800/800+) and V1 is a fairly traditional circuit that will exhibit some variation but the biggest impact is in the plate curve differences, which is why the 12AT7 is IMO a better choice for both tone and feel.

Ummm, we do. All of the Subway amps include an aux input that is exactly the same as the power amp input on a stand alone power amp. The preamp is available as a back-up if you find that you need it (or decide not to use your pedals for a gig or practice). Also, it should be noted that there is nothing digital about the Subway amps, nor any other class D amps for that matter (except for those that incorporate DSP within the signal processing path, such as the new Bergantino's, TC, etc.)

The Power Amp Damping control sounds like it might be the kind of special sauce that I like for DB. If the input impedance was 5 MOhm I’d be sorely tempted!

The WD800 was the amp you were referring to when I asked you about 9 or 10 months ago if there was something coming along from Mesa that would be like my beloved Walkabout head but with more power, wasn’t it?

Depending on the specific pickup, most piezos used for upright (with the exception of the smaller Underwood models) sound and feel the best around 1M. As the impedance goes up, the damping of the pickup can fall, making the bass feel somewhat sloppy.

No, in 2 ohm mode the available power decreases because the rail to rail swing is reduced.

While that’s true, it also has waaaaay more power than the old WA; and if one were to boost lower eq bands, add an active bass, and really dig in on some note with fingers or a pick, the new amp could be problematic in the old combo.
