New mesa subway amps and cabs!

I got my Wd-800 last week and the sound of my pbass with my bergie cn212 is downright godly! However, I have a question. On the master vol knob, I hear a click (almost like static) at about the 9 to 10 o’clock position. When I turn the knob clockwise, the sound increases slowly before I hit 9 o’ clock but once I hear the click, it gets really loud really fast. Is this normal?

That's where the taper changes, and the wiper fingers are crossing through the transition (actually there are 5 small transitions IIRC). This generally gets better with a little use (I have never seen this get worse) as the fingers burnish the virgin track. Since the control linearizes the gain, as well as it's action at low frequencies, it's a little more obvious. You have a 5 year warranty, so if it continues to be a problem we can look into getting it looked at. Give it a few months of use and see if it smooths out.

The performer series with the new Yosemite pickups are no joke. I was in GC just to look at used stuff and saw the P bass just chillin on a stand. In short it went home with me. It's incredible, I haven't touched one of my Kiesel's since. Plus got a good black Friday deal on it. It sings with the WD.

I think I maybe remember knowing that from early on in the thread. I'd like to see pics of the amp/bag if anyone is looking to show off.
Of several amps I've owned, I've rarely used the bag the amp came with. Got in the habit of using hard cases years ago (hauling gear in trailers and such), but thinking about going back to gig bags and padded cases.

I like my gigskinz medium mixer bag.
Main compartment holds amp, power cable, korg pitch black, tuner and 3 prong extension cord.
big outter pocker holds, 2 speaker cables, 15 ft and 10 ft guitar cord. smaller pockets hold batterys, tool bag etc.

That is a nice set up. I'm gonna put a book mark on that one.

Thanks MM. I have a Bergantino HT322. I play with a fairly medium to light touch. I definitely don't do the mid scoop thing, but it's the warmth in the upper mids that really matter. I pretty much like clean headroom, and i use a DarkGlass B7K-ultra for any slight grind.

A friend came over this weekend and we played a Genzler, MBF800, SWR 400 (with an outboard HPF) and a SVT through my HT322.
That cabinet sounds great (to me) with any quality head assuming the low end is controllable.

I called Jim Bergantino before I got mine to ask about using an SVT and he said he had customers that loved that combination (and I agree).
Now, if that cabinet didnt weigh nearly 100 lbs. it would get used more.

Not gonna lie, this right here is it for me. The Performer P is just awesome. I just sold my B Amp and I'm on the fence about letting go of my Bergs.

I like a all in one solution. I find a lot of amp bags only really have room for the amp, power cable and speaker cable. Then you have to have another bag for all that other stuff.

The power cord and speaker cable fit easily in the side pocket (power cord + two speaker cables would be a tight fit). I have a wireless rig in a rack and a homemade pedalboard snake that I carry in the same rack, so I'm eagerly awaiting the rack ears for the WD 800 myself. Until then, it'll be carried in this case.

I have not yet played the WD-800 through my GK Neo 410 cabs, but this amp makes my P-bass sound great through an Energy 115 (or 115 + 118) set up. At this point I am not missing the GK MBF 800 that the Mesa WD-800 has replaced. Joe Bob sez "Czech it out!"

I think I’ll pick up the next WD800 I see, what to get rid of is the problem, plus I’ve been wanting a 215 badly...my son gets married in 4 months, the eldest and first to do so, of 3 though the other 2 are adults out of the house. It calls for a big gift, and they’re going to get one. So I have to move at least something along out of the gear pile.

I have my ‘early adopter’ D800 that I carry as backup (have never used it but I’m always going to have something) or the GK MBFusion, which I really like. But in my favour, L&M show none available online or in store near me. Of either. So I’ll rely on willpower for now, unless some stuff I have up elsewhere moves, but it’s been a while.

Third gig with the D800/SW212 rig last Saturday night. Playing a charity/benefit dance with the 13 member band in my sig. Large room, a community center ballroom/multi-function room we have played many times before, set for 300 people. Took the Bacchus 5er and my 77 Ray, which only left the house because this wasn't a bar gig or anything remotely problematic as a venue. FOH support, as always.

The cabinet is breaking in and warming up nicely. Still used settings of all knobs at noon, except voicing knob at about 10 o clock, bass into Line 6 wireless, then straight into the head. Horn on the cab set normal/flat. Never turned either bass up all the way. The guitarist and drummer were constantly commenting on how fat yet clear both basses sounded, and the trumpet player regularly gave me the stink eye for being 'too damn loud', even though he was on the opposite side of the stage... (Since I was on my wireless, I went over to that side of the stage during a song, and thought the bass levels were fine over there. He was also bitching about the drums being too loud acoustically, even though our drummer is not a pounder. He admits to having hearing issues when he is in a good mood. He obviously wasn't in a good mood on Saturday, but I digress...)

Never heard an ounce of distortion, and the differences in each bass were very obvious. I was not using much if any bass boost on the Bacchus (EMG EQ) so the punch and throatiness of the jazz PU config came through well, and the 2 band EQ Ray was as clear and clean as I have ever heard it outside of the studio. I could flatten the stage if I wanted to with the bass boost available on the MM 2 band EQ, but I didn't. I would take that bass out more if it didn't weigh almost 11 lb.

I love this rig - now to talk the trumpet player into molded IEM's...

This is crazy! Where else (and for who else) do you get this kind of support (and on a Sunday evening!).
You don't train guys to be this way. They have to love what they do and love who they work for!

Actually reminds me of a time that I called the Smith shop and got Ken Smith on the phone ...... uh NOT!

Threads been quiet..nothing monumental here, its just icing on the cake I can power a couple of
pedals from the WD800's USB. Of course no need to use the Linden with this amp as well.
Just received the Birdcord USB to 9V neg center from Austria.

It's absolutely crazy to think a 2x15 is only waist high these days. My 2x15 that I had in the late 90's was almost as tall as me.

And at 60lbs it's really easy for me to lift into the back of my car. It was really a struggle doing that with my NV610 if I didn't have help.
