New model from Sterling by Music Man - Ray34 CA Classic Active

I wonder if the EQ is like the original 2 band on the Leo String Rays.... they made them what they were.....

Good question
I will tell you this spring, since I will be picking up one.
The one You see is at the show.

SBMM wanted to do something different and I applaud them for it. So those who prefer J style / Sterling necks will love it.
Not to mention those who prefer gloss necks as apposed to sanded finish (I prefer the protection and the look).

What great about this is these basses are not to expensive and if the pre was not cutting it, you can easily drop a John East in it and He does make a preamp that is based after the original 2 band.

And he even does that one that's based on the 2 band, but has mid controls, and still has the top mount jack, so you don't need to drill a sidemount.

Wow- Basswave, you're all over this! Are you going to NAMM so you can give a 1st hand report?

I wish the sunburst ray came with a rosewood board, but I think I can live with maple.

I'm not going this year.
To many obligations locally, however I can tell you 2011 is a good year for bass products...Stay tuned.

Correct...I spoke to John recently and He has done a nice job and recreating this preamp.

Are there really that many players that want the 1 1/2" nut over the 1 5/8"?
Love the standard SR neck and 2-band EQ; wish I could get this on a Ray34.
(I know, the SUB had this, along with a painted neck and textured body finish)
