New model from Sterling by Music Man - Ray34 CA Classic Active

Dude, these basses are nearly identical in quality to the US made ones - at half the cost.

I'll gladly spend 20 bucks on new tuners if that's all that was holding me back.

new tuner (EBMM tuner) are not available in my country (Indonesia)...that's sucks...hehe,
but, thanks for the reminder...mybe I should go check ebay, and find tuners that will ship internationally...

"hi, we're the Ernie Ball MusicMan company, we listen to our customers, and give them what they want, without charging them for our name"

best business moto I've ever heard :hiding:

but for real. this. rules.

So that's why they have to put a big, fat "STERLING SB...by musicman" on the headstock? Sorry, but if you believe that garbage, I have a few things I'd like to sell you.

If they didn't care about selling you the name then they would be cranking out Gibson copies instead of less expensive mirror images of their most popular products. That's gotta be the most BS line in the music instrument industry.

I am in total disagreement. I am usually a big fan of 'cheaper' instruments ( my main player right now is a Squier Jaguar) but I wasn't impressed with this line at all. Every time I got to a music store that has some of these I always try them out because I want to like them. I am always sadly disappointed. Granted, it might be my rotten luck but 4 different stores and maybe 8-10 different basses?

I have to admit I miss my Classic and would love to find one of these I like.

What great about this is these basses are not to expensive and if the pre was not cutting it, you can easily drop a John East in it and He does make a preamp that is based after the original 2 band.

That's the one I put in Ray

Oh damn! Same thing as what the rest of them are selling for.

I'm going to have to start figuring out what I can sell over the next few months to raise some $$.
That is SERIOUSLY my all-time favorite color combo for a Ray. I remember lusting for a 3TS back in the 80's.

I was considering trying to get a honeyburst or silverburst, but those are off the radar now!

Sorry, before you get your panties all in a bunch, it's light sarcasm in light of other manufacturers who really charge you more JUST for the name, IE Fender (New American Special basses?), Ampeg(fliptop reissue AT $4000), ANYTHING Gibson has put out?
Take it easy man...I'm just syaing that MM is putting out products their customers have asked for at a reasonable price...not a price denoted by a couple letters on the headstock.
