New MXR pedals

Thanks for the replies. I guess what I really want to know is does MXR think this a problem or not? I'm guessing that they don't think it is.

Well, Darryl Anders extended an invitation for me to chat with him, but I declined as I didn't want to take up valuable time. He seemed more concerned about my customer service experience anyways.

I did however send him the recording I made of the Bass Chorus Deluxe and I haven't heard back from him since. Now he may be busy giving that he's the product manager for the MXR Bass Innovations line, but we did have a regular exchange going up to that point.

So if I had to take a guess, they probably don't deem it a problem at all.

Dang that makes me totally not want to buy this pedal. Sounds very boxy and fuzzy with no real bottom end. I'll have to try this one in person for sure.

There's certainly no low end loss from the pedal and I certainly didn't hear any on my recording. Did you listen with a decent pair of headphones?

The specific bass tone I used is semi-boxy to begin with, so the increase in gain from the overdrive most likely emphasized that effect. Make no mistake though, it is a very warm overdrive as the clean blend has a preset EQ which to my ear cuts a lot of highs and boosts a little in the mids.

I also should note that I had the tone control turned up a decent amount, so the pedal gets way warmer than what you've heard. Overall in my comparisons with the Pork Loin, they sound identical in most settings, but the Pork Loin can get much smoother in the lower gain settings.

Anybody have experience with either of the two pedals in a band setting yet?

The Chorus sits better than my old Boss. It works really well-it's warmer and fatter than the Boss. It's a little brighter than, say a Corona, but it's a very warm brightness, which I like. The fuzz creates more girth than fuzz in a band setting, and that kicks to fill out the bottom. It's not quite as good as the Big Muff at the big wooly hi-mid focused fuzz sound.

I'm hoping some of you guys that have played it can answer this for me but can the BCD get more of shimmery chorus sound? I don't necessarily mean like ear piercing bright just something not so warm. Most of the demos I've seen haven't really tried to get a tone like that.

You can dial the treble knob up some more on BCD. I like ghat about that pedal, it has the bass and treble adjustment knobs. And turn the Xover off. Maybe that'll help

So after playing without effects of any kind for 35 years I bought the bass compressor about a month ago to help with my crappy slapping, which it's helping quite a bit, and last week my envelope filter came in. I gotta say I'm digging the funky goodness of that thing.
