New Origin Effects DCX Bass

Not sure if something changed recently... or possibly where the Origin Effects pedal was purchased. I use Barefoot Buttons on all my pedals, and for me...

DCX Bass - fits the "V1" Size Barefoot Button (Purchased late February from Germany - Thomann)
Cali76 v2 - fits the "Big Bore" Size Barefoot Button (Purchased May 2024 from Sweetwater)

Strange that the foot switch sizes aren't standard on Origin Effect's pedals.🤷‍♂️

Man that is a sweet board. Love the choices and the organization.

Played a great acoustic gig this week with a small board selection, mostly OE pedals and a touch of reverb, with my acoustic Furch through a Phil Jones Cub Pro for stage volume and straight to DI. The combination of OE pedals is great with an acoustic instrument and they really enrich the signal. It sounded great, very full and articulate, both onstage and from the audience. The DCX EQ shines in particular with passive and acoustic instruments, IMO. The sound engineer was very happy and complimentary of the tone.

Are you using the 1/4" out (no cab sim) from the Bassrig? I really like the Black Panel Bassrig's preamp/fender amp sim without the cab sim.

This week's worship board for Easter. I've grown quite attached to the DCX as my core tone with plenty of EQ/Drive. I find I don't really need a second level drive. The Bass MicroSynth easily covers all the Big Moments. The HX One has an excellent Octaver and covers my chorus/modulated delay/tuner needs. I'm using the new smaller Neve RNDI from the DCX.

I like both and I use both depending on the gig. If I do not want to use the cabsim while using the fender sim preamp, then I simply use the 1/4 line out to another DI, in this case to a Phil Jones cab with DI out. Or otherwise I bypass the Fender sim by switching the pedal off and using the clean DI from the Bassrig. Or I use the Bassrig as a dirt pedal and use the 1/4 line out to another clean DI pedal, like the Phil Jones PE5. Most of the sound engineers I play with have clean DI boxes they can provide as well.

Tell me you're a worship bassist without telling me you're a worship bassist.👌

Anyone with a DCX Bass who's into NAM captures? I've just picked up an Anagram and I'm super keen to see how the DCX goes as a NAM pedal. I've got no gear / experience capturing - but would be pretty interested to give it a go if there's no one else set up to do it & I can find some gear to borrow.

Has anyone compared the eq side DCX clean tone to a Sadowsky SBP-2? I’m very interested in their differences and/or similarities for clean, always on tone.
I haven't compared side-by-side (I have an older belt clip model Sadowsky pre and a DCX), but notably the Sadowsky is a boost-only EQ and generally has a much more modern sound to my ears even with the EQ turned all the way down. The DCX EQ offers boost AND cut and also has some certain sculpting even with EQ "flat", though it feels a bit more "vintage" to my ears. I think the DCX has a lower center frequency for the treble and higher center for the bass, at least based on my recollection.

I had a crack at capturing the DCX via NAM if anyone is interested: Origin Effects DCX Bass NAM Profile · TONE3000
Do you like your capture enough to replace the physical DCX?
I'm looking to perhaps get the Anagram, but trying to understand the library of non-Darkglass bass gear that's NAM captured and high quality.
The DCX is one of my favorite - and core - pedals.

How does the capture contain what the knobs do or would you have to capture a collection of discrete settings?

It's definitely good enough that it could if I was forced to, yes - but I can tell from my recordings which is NAM and which is the physical, there's just a very slight brightness to the NAM captures.
What I'm doing mostly is using an EQ NAM for the first stage then using the pedal in FX Loop for OD and that works a treat

Have you tried experimenting with cutting the treble a little from the pedal knowing that the NAM will boost the brightness a bit?
