Double Bass New! Pirastro Perpetual Double Bass strings

I just wanna say. These strings are simply incredible. There’s nothing I don’t like about them. They have an incredible POP in the high register, particularly on F on the G string, E string has a really warm growl, rather than harsh growl. More like a purr.

Arco is workable. I would use belcantos if I was full time arco, but these have a very attractive sound. Only thing I’m waiting on is how long they last for me, and only time will tell. I may be a convert. I may like these better than spiros....but I’m not ready to admit that yet. Playing in student combos I’m getting distracted by my sound.

AND I’m playing 100% acoustic and can cut through a student drummer and horn section... that says something

Pricing has been set in the USA - regular standard-tuning sets are just under $221.50. Low B and Long E/C strings are also available. My shop, as well as most others, should have them available imminently.

Currently, just "standard" gauge, no lights, solos, or high C strings are on the price list at this time.

Could I expect around $250 for a set with a C extension?

I also just noticed spiro bass string prices rose. Shame (obviously not your fault).

The long E is only about $10 more than the standard E, so the long E set is only $230.68.

As for Spiros, the exchange rates, as well as the threat of increased import costs/tariffs/etc. have many of the internationally made products going up (outside our control - and by "us" I mean all American retailers). I'm going to have to raise the price on my bass bags for the first time in years. :-(

When you look at old price sheets and catalogs it's amazing how the German/Austrian manufactured string prices have increased compared to their American counterparts. In 1999 a set of Helicores was $99 and Spirocores were $107.40!

I'm sorry to hear that. weirdly that makes it better cuz if the import costs, tariffs etc go down, maybe so will the prices?

But at this point, I may grab a set for that price when they come out.

Hi! from italy!
I wrote to Pirastro directly to ask for a string set right for jazz for my NS Design NXt Upright bass. They tell me to look for a Perpetual Set. I knew on an acoustic the Oblighato set for study ( pizzicato and bow).
Someone can help me if this set is god for my bass?
