The Braided, Honeys and the prototypes all fit my 5-string 110 cm scale bass well. I wouldn't call them short, but the silk underlengths might be a bit long for an EUB.

Yeah, Sam's Engelhardt sounds pretty good. His action is pretty jacked (high) right now too, wondering how much that has to do with any of it. Sam is a recent grad from Rowan U, which is also where Christopher graduated. They can both play really well. Doug Mapp must be doing something right over there.
No, an NS won't have a 110 cm scale.
This is on my 5-string E. Wilfer 4/4 (7/8?) acoustic double bass.
My EUBs are a Clevinger keyhole 5-string (converted from a 4-string' I think) and the cheap Stagg EUB.

Okay. My post was in response to the guy using strings on his NS Design EUB, so was specific to that. The NS basses are indeed a 3/4 size scale, but the arrangement with the afterlength handling (the keyholes on the back of the bass) make the Innovation strings a little too short to make it to the pegbox, which is what I was telling him. The Innovations are designed as 3/4-specific, and don't fit on all 4/4 size basses, or indeed some 3/4 size basses that have particularly long afterlengths - the pegbox silk ends up going over the nut. I think they even can have this trouble on the Stagg, if memory serves.
So I hope that better clears it up for him, since this tangent is a little OT for the thread.

I’m actually not intrigued. Not even remotely interested. Like in, not at all. I mean, really.
Braced with that much reluctance, paired with my sky high love for Eudoxa, I ordered a Perpetual test set direct from Pirastro.
My plan is to put ‘em on as soon as my second Eudoxa set (waiting in the drawer) is done with. By then, the craze will be over and I can discover something “totally fresh” that everyone knows already- and by then, there will be long time experience reports on how Perpetuals age...

OK, I did find one big difference.
I tried amplifying with the new Perpetual G string and found it amplified MUCH BRIGHTER.
My signal chain is: DNA DB-1 bridge wing pickup, straight into the BAM 200 (it has a 10 megohm input !!) then into my MAS 1.6
I had to bring the treble WAY down to sound like the Obligatos. I've seen it mentioned that some people feel Obligatos get 'Lost in the mix'. I doubt that would happen with the Perpetuals.
Since they sound very similar acoustically but much brighter through the piezo I'm next going to try amplifying with the Chuck Israels mic.

I will be curious to hear the difference when you install the E and A strings. That’s where I think the Obligatos feel too soft and sound indistinct when amplified.

It sounds good, Rick. You sound good with the Obligatos, but I don't think you lost any sweetness going to the Perpetual G string.

You also may want to redo your test after a few days, leaving some time to let them settle in.
The G in particular should warm up notably.

Great sound Rick! I love the pizz tone you get and Bowing was great too.
I recorded a tune with a pianist friend of mine today. I just used my Zoom Q8 and I didn't get as good a recording as we get when we use Jonathans computer, but it's not too bad. Probably gives you some idea of the Perpetuals.
Just wondering if the marketing folks are referring to "...string life" or "...the customer's endle$$ pursuit of (unattainable) perfection"?
