Yep. They're 3mm thicker than the ones they replaced. I don't like my strings EBG low and I kind of like them where they are, but they're too high if I'm being practical.

Damn ... I hate when this happens. Been there a few times in the last 40 years. Currently, my orchestra bass flatback is in the shop for a center seam open crack AND the volume pot on my BSX Allegro just developed a dead spot in the middle of a theater run AND the mid-range speaker in my AI/Coda started farting out in band practice today AND my left shoulder rotator cuff started talking two weeks ago...
How does this work out in terms of a mixed set? I’m about to try this setup.

That has been a minute and I honestly don’t remember. I can tell you that the two strings feel very similar, but the Perps sound just slightly warmer.

They are metal strings (not synthetic) so they should work fine.
Slick - I was afraid the rope core would be an issue (vs, say, spiros) . Thank ye!

Yep. Wire rope core. Spirocores aren't much different, just with a specific spiral rope construction instead of a normal braided rope style.

i used to change my spiros every year. i also change my perpetuals every year if that helps....or doesn't lol
If you change them every year, are they still perpetual? Or do they become Annuals? Bad joke…sorry…
I’m 8 months in on a Stark D&G and they sound sweet as ever. Im going to try to keep them on for a solid decade if I can. The bass itself is really bright, so I welcome any deadening over time.
I get about 14-16 months or so with regular gigs. They still sound clear and have good sustain by this age, but are darker sounding.

I’m at about a year and a half with my set. They settled in very quickly and I haven’t noticed them dying at all really. They’re sounding great with my bluegrass band and I’m usually happy with them in my jazz band although lately I have found myself wanting a little more high mids to help cut through a dense mix on occasion. I don’t have any plans to change the string out anytime soon though because I like the way they feel so much.
