Well, just as I would send companies to the lions that flat-out lie with ridicoulously impossible specs, I would be likely to give the thumbs down to companies that are supposed to be experts on something but call it by the wrong name. How much can they know about enclosure design if they don't even know the basic names of things related?
Fortunately, just about anybody can design a vented cab eventually. So I suspect calling the thing a "horn" is a marketing ploy since a lot of basists attach mystique to things they don't understand.
If you read my posts, youll notice that I dont work for Reeves. My opinions are exactly that; MY opinions, so your attack on Reeves Amplification is unwarranted.

You wont find any reference to these 115 cabinet designs in
any information put out by Reeves; should one assume that you are just ignorant, and not malicious? If you want to attack
my credentials, thats fine and I
really don't care, I'm pretty secure with my personal accomplishments.
Asserting in print, in a public forum that a company; such as Reeves, is intentionally misleading potential customers is entirely different and libelous. (since you obviously have an issue with reading comprehension, Ill spell it out: Its MY opinion that your statements are libelous)
So I suspect calling the thing a "horn" is a marketing ploy since a lot of basists attach mystique to things they don't understand.
In the below quote you were referencing Reeves Amplification with the term they, were you not?
How much can they know about enclosure design if they don't even know the basic names of things related?
If not; exactly who is this they?
I caught your snide reference to my use of the term horn loaded in reference to the port configuration of one of the Reeves cabs I evaluated, and chose to let it slide. I realized that I had inadvertently posted comments in a previous post that you took offence at, and I believe I apologized for the perceived slight.
I also surmise from your reaction(s) that you really, really, really wanna be a professional (defined by me as getting paid to design a driver/enclosure combination for an actual manufacturer), or at least percieved as a professional speaker designer, and attribute the fact that you missed
this quote to some inherent jealousy of those who may (or may not) be in that capacity in REALITY;
I dont work for Reeves and therefore cant speak for them. My involvement is purely in a consultative capacity and I need to be judicious with any proprietary information that I may be privy to. Since Im also a bass player (well, depending on whom you ask
) and a TB member, I share this info in open forum because I feel that some of my brethren will find it interesting.
I also clear anything that might be considered proprietary with the manufacturer before I post it.
As I've suggested to you before, you should put up the money and effort and start a
company building speakers rather than waste your time taking pot shots at others that have put their money where their mouth is so to speak. Just start a consulting business getting paid by recognized manufacturers to advise them,
then your opinion might matter.
I agree with your statement;
Fortunately, just about anybody can design a vented cab eventually.
WinISD actually removes the just about from that quote. Designing is easy; funding, building, marketing, distributing, and successfully retailing those cabs is where the talent lies, and wasting energy libelously attacking successful businesses out of jealousy defeats any positive info you could possibly share.
I can argue my horn loaded comment regarding the port design, but I was trying to be nice and let it slide considering your earlier misunderstanding of my posts.
However, I cant let an innocent entity (Reeves Amplification) suffer a malicious wanna be assault in a public forum because of an opinion of mine that I posted.
Mad yet? You should be, you went off half cocked an libeled a
real speaker manufacturer in an open public forum, you should be mad at yourself for your lack of self control.
