New Sadowsky Preamp/DI?

Saying 'it was not that great' doesn't tell anyone much, what specifically didn't you like? I had one and really liked it, it was a very versatile preamp/di/practice tool.
I just already had a glut of di / preamp boxes.
Mind you I got it a good bit cheaper by importing ;)
Would you have felt differently if the price was, say, $350?

Wow, I never saw this. Sorry. I thought it was extremely sterile and extremely hi-fi. If that is your thing great but I don't want anything with no life to it. I a/b'd it with a SansAmp BDDI (with the blend at 50% as to not over color my basses tone) and it killed the EBS IMO.

Even at $250 I wouldn't buy it but that's me. The BDDI (and now the Programmable I use in my Direct to FOH rig) sounds so much better and feels like it has life to it. I only dial in a bit of the BDDI for nice tube warmth and character. Add my Demeter Compulator to it and it makes my Sadowsky's sound like Sadowsky's on Steroids. LOL

I lose none of the Sadowsky tone, I add the right about of warmth and compress it just enough to make it tight. Great little setup to run direct using either wedges or IEM's.

I thought it was very transparent, but no more so than the other units (sadowsky, sansamp, mxr etc) with eq flat.

Where could I get a Microbass II for $350???
The best price I've seen is $696!
(sorry to get off topic)

So Roger, what you're really saying here is... I shouldn't have just ordered my Microbass II... Doh! :hmm:

Esquillama and jasonbraatz: I can't reveal my source without his/her permission, but if you do a search on EBS you may turn up some info about a dealer in Hong Kong who supposedly has some pretty incredible prices on the brand ;)
