I really dig Curbow's take on the Jazz Bass. What is the neck wood? It's stunning.

That neck wood looks like black limba (korina) to me

Nope... that was about 2 hrs work with a bone nut blank. Worth every second though. Gotta love intrinsic rewards...

The neck for my next project (already on order - see avatar) will have the installed nut though.
Can't wait...

The body is quality aftermarket from what I know; yes, finish is Lake Placid Blue. The neck is a '75 RI, and tuners are also original Fender. So, while it is not a true Fender per se (considering all the upgrades it's more of a custom bass), it's close enough for me.

as much as the valentini basses are nice

those headstocks give me a rash, thats the problem with all these fender knockoff's they try to make the headstock look different/ and nice while still keeping that nosalgic fender look. vaentini does the worst job

sorry. but everything else on them is sweet and i'm sure they sound great

Yeah it's still around. In fact his son Felix plays it around in Miami.
