Well, I feel like a idiot, because I waited too long to pull the trigger on a Corvette Standard 6 at my local GC that they were blowing out for $1059. Of course, I did just get another fretless StingRay from eBay, so it's probably for the best...

It had a three-piece body, anyway. (yeah, *that* will make me feel better!)

Today, I checked out the place where I custom ordered my Corvette Proline. They have an NOS '98 Corvette Standard A-A 4 (with a Wenge neck). Hmm... How quickly can I sell one of my other fretless StingRays?

They also have a Streamer LX 5 with a perfectly quartersawn body that's been sitting there for a couple of years (and which is the bass that got me into Warwicks in the first place), and a Corvette Standard 5 with a perfectly quartersawn body. Too bad for me that I don't like the 16.5mm string spacing on the standard multi-string Warwicks. Now, there's still some Streamer LX 5 BN's available, but I don't have that kind of money.

For the six-string I want, the 16.5mm is perfect for what I have in mind, but for my 5-strings, I like a wider spacing.

I have a story to tell about my 5st Warwick Rockbass. I saved for a year to be able to by a 5str mainstream warwick streamer. I got there and i played the one i wanted to buy and was just about to leave and purchase it, when the guy who works on the basses there (used to play for eric clapton) and he says 'before u buy this bass, give this one a try.' and he hands me the same bass, but rockbass. I was reluctant at first knowing that rockbass is like squire, not mainstream, not as good and therefor not as expensive. However i took it to humor him, and its a good job i did, because it had the most beautiful sound of any warwick (rockbass or not) i have ever played, and was half the price. I loved it so much i bought and used the rest of my money on some pedals that i was eager to own. I would consider my Rockbass a diamond in the rough, and i love it, i have enough to buy many other mainstream basses now, but i have played many (alembics, rickenbackers and even a shadowsky) and IMHO, non of them where worth my money because non of them sounded like my streamer! Granted it doesnt look as sleek and smooth, but thats not the point, the sound was awsome, bit heavy but its a fair tradeoff.

The RockBasses are very nice instruments. Personally, I prefer the woods of the regular Warwicks, but the RockBasses have a certain mojo, too. They're easily some of the best "budget-line" instruments out there.

Natural flamed maple, ovangkol neck, ebony fretless board, chrome hardware, 30" scale, and it's mine, all mine! Took about three months to get from Der Vaterland. I do wish I'd ordered it with the piezo bridge, though (I don't think they offer it anymore?).

how did you order a custom warwick? are you endorsed or have an inside?

Többektől is hallottam, hogy Bartolini hangszedőkkel jól szól, de az előfok sokat levág a magasakból, kissé tompa lesz. Helyette inkább a Bartolini + Aguilar OBP3-at ajánlják. Bár a csupa-juhar Pedullákban a csak-Bart elég jó - ki tudja, talán nálad is jól ellensúlyozná a juhart?
A Seymor Duncan szettekről is jókat hallottam.
De a sime MEC hangszedők nem is annyira rosszak, inkább az előfok a leggyengébb láncszem.
