I am still learning and playing (very bad but trying my best) different brand/model 4 string basses so I am not tied up to any specific neck size or string space.
Recently I got a great deal on a Sterling Ray 35 and to my surprise I am having less difficulty to to play it than I thought I would have. For sure I miss one or more string sometimes but I still can use it, hence the doubt now if I should swap my 4 to a 5 instead.
I just don't wanna do the move to later regret and let the P7 collecting dust. :)

I have owned EBMM SR5 basses that are pretty much the same neck profile as the Sterling Ray35, and I have to say the V7 and VV7 5 string necks were very close to the Sterling/SR5 basses. The string spacing is slightly wider, but the neck profile is very close.

EDIT: Oh and once I went to 5 string back in 1991 I tried going back to 4 string a few times. I always sold the 4 string in favor of the 5. That's not to say that I can't play 4 string, as I do play a very nice 4 string Fender Precision at my friends studio, but I can play so much more on my 5.

I would go for the 5...but that's just my advice.

I believe that is for orders placed today. I was in contact with Mickey and he said that they are on track to meet the July 15th date for orders already placed. This was last week, and he said if anything changed that I would be notified by email.

Did you get notification that your order was delayed?

No, I haven't ordered. I won't order one until I can see what they actually look like. And by "all the shipping dates" I meant for all the models on the website, not for all past orders- sorry if there was confusion.

Yeah, I'm dying to see pics of the P5, I know it's not the end of the world but you'd think they would have pics by now. That's the only thing keeping me from ordering at this point.

There was the short bit at the end of the Scott's video where you can see it for a few seconds...

Yeah he plays the one and there's a picture of 2 on his website. I was interested in one of the white one though, and I won't buy until I can see how that color scheme looks, you know?

Honestly if the only thing that is stopping you from pulling the trigger on a P7 5 is aesthetics, then I would just go for it. You can see the 4 string version in white, and judge from that. Are you looking at the Ash or Alder? I went with the Ash as I wanted a maple board. Oh and I went with white too.

I love both of my TF basses. The fretted model is my "go to" bass. I'd say it gets at least 50% of my playing time (across 5 basses) I payed close to full price for it and don't regret that for an instant.

Except for the fretless/fretted part, the sound is pretty similar (electronics are exactly the same and I have Sunbeams on both). The feel is a little different from the fretless model (the neck "feels" chunkier...although I've never measured it).

I do know that it's not just a TF fretless with frets added (which explains why this one doesn't come with a hipshot d-tuner). Both of them are pretty close replicas of his own "original" basses (the fretless being his "Firm" bass), and he still uses his fretted in the studio quite a bit. There's a youtube video where he talks about the colors (Olympic White was the original color before he stripped it).

They are getting harder and harder to find and if you find one at a decent price, I'd snag it.

Where do you see the picture of the 4 string?
