This unit was designed for Geddy and to his specifications. He wanted a more portable version of his signature rack mount unit.

There is a mute on the pedal that turns off the LED. The high efficiency LED only draws 1mA.

There is an easy to access internal switch that allows the end user to combine the channels. The DI-2112 was designed to be your preamp. The YYZ was designed for those that want a stomp box format.

But my main question, adding to this thread is, the blend knob is -/+ from center, the rack model simply increases from DRY/WET(SansAmp) moving clockwise. Ive never seen a blend work like this, is it 50/50 at 12 and mixed accordingly from there?[/QUOTE]

It works the same as the Blend in the rack mount, just like all our SansAmps that have this function. It's just a different graphic on the DI.

Thanks for the information, if I run this from a power supply, does it need to be from an 18 volt tap or a 9 volt -and what is the consumption in Ma?

When the switch is engaged to combine channels, which becomes the combined output? -Or do both the 1/4" outputs put the same mixed channels out?

You can use either a 9 or 18V DC supply. The mA draw is 55mA. When the channels are combined with the internal switch all XLR and 1/4" outputs will have the combined signal.

Oh one more thing, if the channels are combined does this also mean that each of the 4 outputs are suitably buffered to be used in any combination without loading or loss of treble frequencies?

And this just arrived...it's like a cross between a giant chicken roaster, a few washing machines, and a Gefilter added for good measure. From deep to drive its a KILLER, versatile, portable preamp. Stay tuned...

@tech21nyc please make a Programmable version of this, or a Deluxe one. With storable presets, anyway. It will become THE definitive preamp.

Probably sounds great, but the Orange Bass Butler appears to have a few advantages at first glance, including the option of controlling with an expression pedal. I don’t understand the lack of foot switch. I’d rather have the rack mount version if I’m not engaging it with my feet. Still, it probably sounds amazing.

...maybe because it's meant as an always-on unit, which makes perfect sense to me as it's not meant to be an effect in the strict sense of the term. Also, why in the world would one have to lug a rack around when it can have the same product in a pedal?
As I mentioned before, a Programmable-like version would be IMHO even "more perfect" for the reason that one might be able to switch between different settings, but not, as I envision it, to turn it on and off. That's not how this was designed for, it's just not its function. There's the YYZ pedal for that. This is meant to be "the one and only voice" of your instrument, not an alternative/optional one, like a "standard" effect.

Did I use enough '"'s? :-D
