New Tech 21 Geddy Lee DI-2112

I wonder what next year's variation on the GED-2112 will be? Haha.

Seriously though, does the mute button just mute the DI box and still let a signal pass thru?

A footswitch would've been really nice...

The mute shuts off the signal. There is no pass thru though the tuner out is always active. It is a desk-top/amp-top unit. It was never meant to be a pedal.

Mine came in yesterday from Bass Central in Florida! Here's a demo! Special thanks to Beaver and GH at Bass Central. The settings I used are shown at the end of the video!

Sick playing and cool looking studio! I love the guys at Bass Central. It's been too long since I've been there.

They're literally a mile from my house.

Meant to be a pedal or not, it's the size of a pedal, can certainly be used as a pedal and the lack of a footswitch alienates the market that would be interested in such an item, especially since every other Tech 21 DI I can recall has had a footswitch.

It makes sense to me...Tech 21 makes an impressive amount of products, not just pedals. The Geddy series is a great way to see the logic in your line. The three products allow us to get the sound no matter what environment our bass is used in. As an owner of the YYZ pedal version, I sure like the design elements in it. I don't expect it to have all the features of the other GL products. Nor do I expect the converse.

No one product makes every one happy. So you make THREE! I think that is very cool. So I don't think it is fair to look at any one product and criticize it for not having something that is more at-home on a different model.

These GL products are so well-designed that I can see getting one of the other products at some time in the future.

Thanks for the fine products!

Very cool! Congrats!
Please tell us what you think once you have played with it.

Did you own or use any of the other Geddy products from Tech 21 before getting the DI?
Yes, I own the rack unit as well.
I played the di today, through a mixing table with my headphones and it's definitely a beast.
What I like is the internal switch, both the deep and drive section goes through one output if you activate the switch.I'm really curious to see what it does through my amp.
The tight switch makes it even more fun to play in my opinion. It delivers a wonderful growl.
And after 2 hours of playing I can say it's a lot easier to achieve your sound than with the rack unit.
I'd recommend it to every single bass player :)

This is very helpful. Thank you!
And thanks for the photo of the settings.
