New Traynor YBA 100!!

Happily trending in my own peculiar direction.
I sold my PF50T the second that I heard that this was coming down the pipe.
The Traynor has:
A handle, twice the power and is only 2.5 lbs heavier, doesn’t have a cage that rattled no matter what I did to minimize it, has a more precise control on the mid frequency, Has an equally great tone if not better (personal opinion obviously) and is made in Canada near me.
The only thing I would change would be adding a Power Amp Output DI to the YBA like the PF50T. But definitely not a deal breaker by any means.
And you can throw them off a roof and still use it.

Sounds like Traynor has a hit with the new 100 - just as you’d expect - it sounds good and is a solid and straight forward amp . The main innovation appears to be the weight reduction and the great pricing . Kudo’s to Traynor and many thanks to senor Grapebass for his diligent updates and info sharing ... Kelly
Hopefully this product could help Traynor with more availability/impact in the US market. A company as legendary as them deserves more than to just be an afterthought in the amplification world.
Traynor had plenty of impact in the 1970s in the US.
Yes, but I feel that is unfortunately no longer the case these days.
I place the blame elsewhere in the supply chain.
Yeah, I'm not really looking to place blame, I'd just like to see Traynor sell more amplifiers.
Well, I guess, I should of said old school vs. new, yes the old ones were heavy, due to those huge Hammond transformers, but in the day they were marketed as 100 watt units, , and like you said in reality, they put out 160 watts, into a 8 ohm load & about 140 watts into a 4 ohm load, and yes, I do like the smaller, lighter designs, especially at load out time,
Today we are use to high wattage bass amp, 500 watts is the new 50 watts from before, I think many fellows could realise that a 100w. tube amp is more than enough in many situations, specialy if you don't have to carry a 50lbs boat anchor.
And that 500W is only twice as loud as 50W...

I rented it for a month just to check it out and it came from the store brand new still in the box. I seem to be liking it more and more each day and it sounds great with the Ampeg 210 AV.

It looks so precarious there, balanced atop that cabinet. Although a Traynor amp can easily survive a fall of 2 stories (about 4 meters), it would be a shame for your new amp to suffer that fate.
To that end then, I recommend you upgrade to a new cabinet.
Traynor - 1600 Watt 8x10 Bass Cabinet
This would not only provide a secure platform for your amp, but would also put all the controls near eye-level making adjustments very easy.

I would like to hear that rig, as I used to run a 112/210 setup of those reference speakers (no longer made) and I was thinking just the other day of what the YBA100 would sound like through them; although I personally couldnt deal with the weight. I am currently using a 15” cab with my YBA100.

Do you play through the the Traynor 810? That is one of the Traynor cabs that I have never heard although I wondered about its sound.
