New Wentz bass coming.

When you can sell millions of CD's a fender rep will give you a call.

I hate when people say this... "So and so sucks" "yeah well when you sell that many records you can talk"

selling cds and being a talented player are 2 WAY different things. most of the best selling "artists" in music now days, aren't even musicians. it makes my stomach turn when some of these people are called "artists". most the time it's their producers writing the songs (might not be the case with FOB) and the so called "artist" is just a pretty face for the album cover. either way IMO fall out boy is pretty much a boy band with instruments in their hands.

I bet anyone on this forum could put on some trendy tight jeans dye their hair, dress "punk" and write ******** 3 chord pop songs. But luckily most of us have self respect. lol

It's all marketing it has nothing to do with talent. Pete Wentz is a total tool. and lame bass player.

the purple pickguard is kind of cool though :p

I didint mean to offend anybody, if i did im sorry but i just do not like the guy, and my hate against him grew even more when he said that.. not that i hate gay people i can and probablya lready have gay friends but i jus tdont like this particular dude

:rollno::scowl::rolleyes:

Nice try, makanudo, but you might as well have written what I wrote in the title. That type of statement, as every sentient being knows, is exactly what a hater (say, a racist, antisemite, classist, homophobe, etc.) mumbles when called on his/her/its ugly comments or actions.

It's not who you know or may know: It's about having an attitude of acceptance that others live different lifestyles than you and you are not the judge and jury for them. It seems to me that musicians, victims of many idiotic stereotypes, should be especially sensitive to making crass remarks about others.

Karma's a B, and while you're training to practice the Golden Rule, how about you pay some extra bucks for spelling lessons?

I hope that you are extremely young. No, that does not constitute an excuse but it does give us some hope that there's maturation in the works for you.

Uh, yeah, thats kind of how the situation works....

Fender couldn't give their collective left nut about their artists talent, they want the guys selling so many cds it ceases to be funny.
It's all marketing it has nothing to do with talent.

And this is why, marketing...... for their instruments........ to sell more....... talent dose not come into the equation...... the fact that more emo kids see Wentz(or whoever is popular) playing with a Fender is what matters..... so they'll all want one.....

Fender is more of a sell out then any artist ever has been, both are businesses. Its true sell millions of CD's , get packed concert halls and you will have a signature instrument if you want. I bet FOB is one of the most popular modern bands, i dont like its but it sells and there will always be another sell out.

I dont lose any sleep over it , and i would drop out of college tomorrow if a band that big wanted me.

Yup, most good musicians done make it big time, and if they do they probably would rather not be used as an advertising ploy.

Fall out boy, Miley Cyrus, Jonas Brothers, they are all designed to sell records, guitars, action figures, TV advertising spot, its not them who are writing the music and deciding what to play, its the suit wearing guys in the arm chairs. They know what sells, and in the end thats what matters :p

That always works! i just ordered one from warmoth without a volume pot drilled and moved the volume to where the tone pot would be, putting a sticker over it is alot cheaper :p
Plus, I actually liked the stock guard, a single ply white.... not my usual taste but on this bass it works.

I plan on putting a side jack on a p bass and no volume or tone just a kill switch.

Nice, be double cool if its a Buckethead style kill!:D

to darkstrike and LCW..
Im not arguing that is the reason Fender gave him a signature. I obviously misunderstood what LCW meant. sorry bout that!

I just hate when people use the "when you sell that many then you can talk" line to try to defend whatever lame music. like selling that many records automatically makes it good and worthy of respect.

unfortunately yea, the music industry is all about money instead of talent. but have you ever wondered if record companies put as much money and marketing into a real player that they could have similar popularity? it wouldnt even bother so much if said act looked all trendy pretty boy emo, as long as they can play! It just pisses me off when they look "trendy pretty boy emo" (lol) to make up for their lack of talent.

edit: yeah i know sorry getting way off topic.. just needed to clarify

Its cool mate no worries,

I just was stating that all fender cares about are numbers. If they see you sell X amount of records then they see you worthy of a sig. So many great players are underrated and never get what they deserve, some on this board.

i wouldnt play the signature model of someone who said he has felt sexually atracted to men... GROSS

Are you serious? LOL. What backwoods part of the country are you from? That's like rooting against the San Francisco 49ers because the city is known for its gay community. That's like a Jewish person refusing to own a Mercedes because Hitler owned one.
Here are some websites you would love. It will definitely keep your hatred alive and well.

Late to this party but I think its a shame that Fender makes both a Geddy Lee and a Pete Wentz model.

You'd think getting an instrument signature model was meant as a complement/testament to your ability as a musician.

It's like if you worked out, took care of your body, groomed yourself very well, dressed sharply, spoke 5 languages, had extensive knowledge about art, science, history, politics, you name it and finally got a date with the most sought after, most gorgeous, intelligent woman you've ever met.

And the next day she's out on a date with some fat guy with tons of acne, a balding head, wrinkled and mismatched clothing thats 2 sizes too large, and the guy only wants to talk about cars & football.

That's how I'd feel if I were Geddy !!!!! :D

I've got absolutely nothing against FOB or Pete Wentz or selling millions of albums but there is nothing remotely impressive about his playing. There are many other more deserving, talented bassists that are probably selling pretty well, too. I mean, I know Fender can't make a Sig model for EVERYONE but what were they thinking???

I mean there is even an Avrile Lavigne Tele for crying out loud!!!! Did they ever make a Chrissie Hynde Tele? Nope (not that she's such a brilliant guitarist either but she definitely has contributed more to the history of rock music than Lavigne and the image of Chrissie with a Tele is pretty iconic).

I guess it's a cool looking bass for the kids.

Sometimes, the ugly, fat, bald guy has a better personality and is more real (attractive) than some male model, metrosexual. LOL!

Lol, this is true.
I know, bad example.

How about this one: 2 boxers.

One is extremely finessed, great footwork, very strategic, amazing stamina, terrific defensive technique and all around great control.

The other is a monstrous hulk whose only technique is charging like a bull and thowing punches like a madman until he can land a knockout.

Both are in a chapter of book titled: "Greatest Boxers Of All Time". :D

Ok, my examples suck. But Geddy Lee rocks. :bassist:
