New Year's Eve gigs..... Who's got 'em?

Hi,
This is mine, my first time playing The Ranch for NYE. For the last five years, when I was with another band, we played at Cars Land in Disney's California Adventure, outside, in the 39 degree weather at midnight, no food. This NYE I'll be indoors with a huge fancy buffet, champagne at midnight, and confetti cannons. Should be a blast.

No gig here. Even if our band was not falling apart, Bluegrass doesn't usually get many NYE gigs.

Just our annual NYE party, we try to be entertaining
. We attempt to surprise party goers with really weird choices of materiel, some of this years selections are Julie do you love me by Bobby Sherman and the Partridge family TV theme song. Were just goofy that way and people always get a kick out of it. Past selections have been things like "Chevy Van" by Lobo and the theme from The Love Boat

Yes. A B room about an hour from my house. It's been well publicized, party favors, buffet, all the goodies. Being bittersweet, it's the last gig in the band's history, the BL has had it going for 10 years. We are all splitting and going into different projects. We are all leaving on friendly terms as well. It ought to be a great show.
The only bad part is I have to work a half day tomorrow at my day job. I'm going in at 4 am and working until 8 am. I'll get a quick nap in before I get ready to head to the gig.

Turned down a $250 gig cause it's too low. Going to a friends party's. Can't wait.

That sounds like a ton of fun, adding unusual selections to the setlist. We recently added "Sweet Caroline" and I've been amazed how much people like that song, especially coming from a country band. I guess it's a fun song-along audience participation song. Have a great party!
A bittersweet NYE party. Oh well. But this will give you guys a chance to have reunion gigs next year! Those are always fun.

History: I used to live in a major metropolitan city of 2 million, or so, in South Texas, and if you were a reading bassist, you played every New Year's Eve for triple scale. There were four working big bands, and on New Year's Eve, they double and triple booked themselves at all the downtown hotels with extravagant formal society dances. So everyone worked every New Year's Eve.
Cut to 15 years ago. Moved to a medium sized (100,000) city in Canada. No working big bands. No large society soirées at hotels. No triple scale or union or sightreading gigs. Just bar bands in bars for regular ($100 per person) pay. In other words, no New Year's Eve gigs for the last 15 years. I attended a couple as a patron, but no performing.
This year, I got a gig. I'm a full time member of a funky jazz quartet, and we got booked for double scale ($250), and a free meal, at a jazz restaurant. 7-9 easy jazz for dinner music, then 11-midnight for funky smooth jazz for dancing and listening, followed by a countdown at 12:00 and Auld Lang Syne. Not sure about free Champagne yet, but there is no cover charge for patrons.
Long story short: my first NYE gig in 15 years, since moving to Canada from NYE big band capital of the South.

Yep playing an American Legion...we did it last year ...got pretty crazy so we shall see what the night will bring
Yeah we are playing at the "Back Alley" bar. Forecasted temps are -10(F) when we load in and -20 when we load out. Good times.
Just doing a small private gig. We usually do classic rock but have a number of other musicians jumping in that are bluegrass.........so, bluegrass it is.
Nope, the church is closed. Thank the man upstairs for small favors. I'm getting too old to stay up late.
