I made a great patch using the dist/octave -> slicer -> delay, sounded very trancey.
I'd definitely be down to hear your thoughts. My main "essentials" board has tuner, envelope, overdrive and just recently a Poltyope for SUBTLE chorus. I'd be interested to hear how the the B3 does "the basics."

gonna try it with my Blue Tube pre/eq/comp ... and Aguilar Octamizer ... i don't think it replace the analog octave control the Ag has ...

I got my B3 yesterday. Gonna take awhile to dive in. There are some good sounds in there. Filters are strong if you set them up and send a nice hot signal to control the sensitivity (ala the passive/active switch) definitely as good as Line 6. Octave is weak (not ditching the OC2 yet) MXR DI is spot on. Big Muffs are cool once you set them up right, a little digital. Being an Ampeg man id believe the SVT model. The amp models definitely sound better than the old POD stuff. Jury is still out on the delays, I have used boss delays for a long time. Modulations are cool. The Jaco setting is spot on. The effects compliment the sound without over powering it. Lots of control over the the effects and the unit, a tweekers wet dream. I like that it can be as subtle or as over the top as i want and it gives me control of the overall volume of the effects something harder to set up before a show with individual pedals.
You can press button 1 and 2 at the same time to change banks, going from bank to Bank A to J is about couple of seconds, then use 2 and 3 to select the patch.

These B3's are pretty damn cool. I can see other multi-effect manufacturers getting a little p***ed over this price point because it is pretty damn good and easy to change parameters and program. Mines not going back, thats for sure.
correct , press the big footswitches 1 and 2 at the same time to select the next lower bank, 2-3 to select the next higher bank or use the knob number 1 on the middle effect, there are 10 patches on each bank 0-9 * 10 banks A -J = 100 patches, I dont know if you can create more banks up to Z
Just got mine last night. I love the solid build. The sound quality of the inbuilt rhythms is not very good, but they're alright and sure make practising a whole lot more fun. Looper is easy enough to use and auto-quantises your button presses if you step out of time.
I found some of the compressors are fairly noisy, which is counter-productive for what a compressor is supposed to be. The choruses are pretty sweet fot me. Haven't had time to fiddle with many of the other effects yet.
Edit: compressors and some effects were noisy with my passive bass, running the single J pickup solo. On my active bass there was no hum at all.

played around with the B3 last night for a bit ... first thoughts
using my passive bass for the first try ...
the unit in OK .. seems appropriate for the price point ..
playing thru the stock programs / and it is easy to tweek . !
Chorus / Flangers ... nice
Octave ... not so good .. i really prefer the sound/control of my analog Aguilar Octamizer .. ( bit that 1 effect costs 2/3 the price of the B3 .. !! so it should be much better )
filters/synths .. never found much use for them in bass effects .. i play keys , so my Kronos does these types of things much much better ..
EQs / preamps / amp sims ... very nice , they seem like they'll be very usable for sound shaping ..
Reverbs ... on one patch i saw/heard an HD reverb that sounded very nice ..
Comps ... might be OK when programmed into more useful patches ..
Drums ... boring , dry ... but OK for practice
some things might work or sound better with a hotter signal going in from an active bass ... i'll try that tonight ..
also downloaded the patch program .. will try to get it hooked up to my laptop tonight also ... programming would be easier from the computer than hunched over searching for the little buttons .. !

Sweetwater is good i buy a ton from them and great customer service . You cant beat getting candy in every package you recieve ...lol
I've had mine for about 3 weeks now but I just got an expression pedal for it: the zoom fp01. I couldn't find anywhere that had the fp02 in stock.
I tried it out but it seems like all the action on the pedal happens in right before the extreme toe-up position. From 25% down to all the way down there's no change on any of the pedals. This makes playing awkward because I'm more used to toe-down rather than teetering, which becomes a hazard on a cramped stage. Any thoughts? Could I switch out the potentiometer? There's a 100k in there now. Or perhaps a firmware thing will allow adjustment...
That's my only gripe.
Other than that the pedal sounds/works fantastic... bass and guitar. I'm using it as a cookie-cut pedal for all those strange one-song effects. I like the drum feature too. One night the drummer left early and my band practiced off it and tightened up an unfinished song.
