The Korg AX300B had a similar effect with bass drum and electronic sub bass tones to it. It was much more useful.

Was hoping you could change the tone into a sub bass " bass bomb" like those modern hardcore bands use at the start of a breakdown :)

I haven't used any other synth pedals for bass (except zoom b2.1u) but some synth sounds are more usefull than others.
-The Bomber effect has no pitch so it's fairly useless.
-The bit-crusher is alot of fun if you want to sound like a 80's Atari game console :)
-the mono synth has some tracking issues which makes it hard to use
-The Z-synth is pretty cool and usefull
-Z-organ is ok, but again it has some tracking issues
The other Synth are all pretty fun to play around with

HI THERE ,WHEN I SPOKE THE OTHER DAY ABOUT THE UNIT ,I SAID IT WAS ONLY GOOD FOR PRACTICE , I WAS TALKING ABOUT THE DRUM MACHINE . THE ZOOM B3 , IS THE BEST EFFECTS UNIT MONEY CAN BUY ! GO OUT AND BUY ONE TODAY,NOTHING IN YOUR LIFE CAN BE MORE IMPORTANT, DON'T DELAY,NO BASSIST LEFT BEHIND,THIS IS THE TRUE RAPTURE !!!! EXCUSE MY GLEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have had several rehearsals with mine and used it on a gig for the first time on Sunday. I was using mostly boosts (to bump up a passive bass to active levels), eq's (to tune the room), subtle chorus/reverb to help fill a thin song and then the SansCmp for overdrive. It sounded great and was very organic to my ears.

I was running bass>B3>Ampeg SVT-7 Pro>Ampeg 410HLF.

Nice! I may give it a try. I have a B2 now but only use it for occasional reverb.

Hey guys, I'm fairly new to the talkbass forums- but after checking out what you guys had to say about the B3, I ordered one and it came in promptly yesterday. I have never used any effects for my bass, especially any multi-effects pedals and I thought the B3 would be good for my lack of programming skills.
The most difficult challenge for me is when I would get to actually use this thing in a live situation. I play in a couple of serious cover bands (80s rock, blues, beach music, classic rock, reggae etc.) so any effect I'd be using would pretty straight forward -except for a few funky/synthy jam things(I just made the perfect patch for chameleon:)). Anyway I thought I could review the B3's not-so "super-trippy trance music" capabilities for anyone who's interested.
