@ 5sig,

if you don't mind missing out on the amp models with are specific for bass, maybe the G3 is something for you since they share maybe 85-90% of all the effects. And then ofcourse you'll have the 6 effects at the same time option so using one effect to fix another wont hurt you as much as on a B3.

:)

I never cared much for most multi-fx pedals after the "fake" sounding tone of my old Line 6 bass POD ruined it for me. That was two years ago, then I saw how this one was getting some great reviews. Went to a store and sat down with it for a half hour demoing patches. Once i tried the 8-bit-sounding synth modeler (I forget the name exactly), a GAS attack ensued...

You should probably just use "[email protected]", when I raised the issue with Samson they just directed me to that email address. That is also the one from which i got the above response I mentioned. And it is direct to the manufacturer; Samson only distributes in North America.

Yes, I emailed them at [email protected]
Let's all email them and see if they think about giving us Bass Players the update...the more emails we send the better! :hyper:

Got my B3 used, saved a $70. So far the presets are not useable. It is cool for the money, but it is not a Line 6 M9, which is what I was going to use it to replace. I can see it being nice for the folks who need an amp modeler, DI and some effects all in one shot.

Interesting. I replaced my M9 with the B3 and am far happier. I was really disappointed with the lack of useable bass effects and the limited controls on the M9.

FWIW, I don't use and have never used any of the B3 presets. I made my own and it is great. Have you spent some time setting up your own?

Has anyone tried the Zoom B3 with other instruments? Specifically harmonica?

This guy has, with his bass harmonica. :bassist:

Seriously though, I wonder if the effects can be used with a guitar as well as bass? Does anyone know if they are ALL tailored towards a bass?

I mostly ordered a B3 for the amp sims to practice with, and it would be nice to use the delays and whatnot for my Strat.

I haven't received mine yet or I would experiment myself.

only the amp models and some overdrives and distortions are designed for bass (although that doesnt mean that you can't use them for guitar ;) ), most of the other effects are also available in the zoom G3. I use my guitar sometimes with the B3 and the chorus/delay/flanger etc. work just as nice.

Cool, thanks.

Anybody ever connect the USB to their iPhone or iPad via the camera connection kit usb port? Wonder if this would work for Garageband or playing backing tracks from an Apple i-device.

You might need to have a power source other than USB to do that. I leave it USB powered at home, but that's off an iMac. I'm not an iPad/iPhone guy so I can't test it out....

I'll try it when I get it. I've got a small Mackie mixer or could just use it through my Macbook. I was just interested in keeping everything as portable as possible.

If I spent as much time practicing as I did thinking about convoluted uses for my gear, I'd be a much better bassist. ;)

Just tried it with my camera connection kit. As soon as I plug it into my iphone, the phone says ''this accessoiry is not supported by iphone''. It says so when I plug the B3 in when powered off but also when I turn it on.

But I don't have any music apps (besides itunes) on my phone so maybe thats the case?
