Already been tried. Can't do a daisy chain... And frankly would rather buy some nice pedals to go with by b3 than add a second. Honestly 3 effects is fine for most applications, give me 6 and it's time for some robot porno sounds and other fun stuff I'd never use with a band.

Amen to that, brother. For all my G.A.S. and pedal wh*reness, the pedal I use most is my tuner!

So I'm reading this all this way:

The response Dunic got sounds like a bit PR spin to me. Of course the G3 update isn't for the B3. Well... duh, Zoom. They didn't say "We're NOT doing a B3 update for the B3" though.

The reply that PauBass got says to me that either
a) they're already working on a B3 update (which obviously makes sense since they updated the G3)
b) maybe they didn't realize that bass players want the same love that guitar players always seem to get (hog? :D) and are now thinking "hey, maybe we should do the update for the B3 too!" and are setting things in motion to do it.

Having been in a corporate environment, I've seen the "not revealing plans" thing before... they don't want to tell us because they don't want people to wait for the update to hit before buying a B3 and possibly risk a sale. They want you to pony up and buy a B3 right now. :rolleyes:

Maybe I'm full of hot air and it's all wishful thinking on my part. Not too worried about it in the end... it goes back to agreeing with jasonhall. I rarely use more than one effect at a time, 3 patches would work out for me just fine.

anybody find a good setup for envelope filter sounds? I chose the M filter setup and tried to lower the resonance a bit but I can't seem to get the sound quite the way I want it -- obvious to the audience without a huge mid bump. Seems like it just isn't using the low end when I engage the filter.


p.s. -- Love the flexibility of different distortions, I used the tubescreamer setting to play "subdivisions" at a gig two weeks ago. There's no way I could have used any of my other distortion pedals for that as they're too over the top for a Geddy sound.

I'm thinking about buying the B3... still hesitating between that new beast and the boss gt-10b (that costs twice the price).

One thing I'm worried about the B3 is that it has only three knobs for each effect. I've recently been experementing with my guitarists distortions pedals and I absolutely loved the few pedals that had a 4-5 bands EQ. I'm worried that I might not have that flexibility on the B3.

Do you know if some of the distortions have an EQ with more than three bands? (at least low/low-mid/high-mid/high). I would even be satisfied if I could only tweek that over the computer.


PS: sorry for the (I hope not so) many mistakes, I haven't written a word in english in over a year.

If you look closer at the B3, each effect has a little button labelled "PAGE". That takes you through up to three pages, per effect, which, in effect, given you NINE knobs that affect each effect, effectively....

Like BassikLee said, you have many options for tweaking each effect directly on the pedal, with each button becoming a different control on each page of the effect.
You can also do all this over the computer with button simulators that you can move with your mouse/pad which I find a little easier.

Most effects have a full 3-pages deep of editing options. If you can't find the right EQ with the distortion/overdrive you are working with, you could easily drop in a 7-band graphic EQ or 2-band Parametric on slot #2 right after your distortion to sculpt the tone.

It can't hurt! The more they see that there's interest, the more they might understand that they might benefit from it. Make your product better and more people will buy it, you'll get increased word of mouth, etc.

You should probably just use "[email protected]", when I raised the issue with Samson they just directed me to that email address. That is also the one from which i got the above response I mentioned. And it is direct to the manufacturer; Samson only distributes in North America.

Okay, I'm pretty new at any sort of pedals. And I've I just got my B3 and have been playing with it for about a week. And I must admit being a little overwhelmed...LOL. Does anybody know of some patches that I can download. I'm looking specifically for some stuff aimed at some basic rock blues. Every time I set the distort, fuzz, etc. it either sounds like muddy crap or nothing at all. AND I know it's operator error!

So, I've been subscribed to this thread for a while now. I'm a "broke student" (again, 12 years after graduating the first time :eek: lol) and haven't had a gear fix in almost 8 months. :hmm: I've been eyeballing the B3 pretty hard as a way to tame G.A.S. with a good bang-for-your-buck piece of gear, so over the last couple days I've gone back back and (re)read this entire thread, start to finish. Between the feedback here and demos/clips I've found, it does seem like a pretty decent little multi.

However...

There are some reasons I've made me decide to hold off:

1) Gastric mentioned the patches switching when you hold the buttons to tune or switch modes. It might be a trivial thing to some, but I tune quite a bit and also occassionally use my TU2/3 as a mute for things like quick bass changes without needing the sound guy to mute my channel. Don't really want to have to remember to switch back to the patch I was on.

2) buying a second pedal (like a blender, noise surpressor or whatever) to "fix" a problem with the first pedal has always been something I'm not willing to do, so hearing reports that some of the effects pretty much require the ZNR as one of the patches falls under that umbrella and is a bit of a bummer.

3) I've become an overdrive afficionado and have had the good fortune to own drives like the Dark Driving, B3K, SFT and Tubeworks BlueTube, so to hear that the drives are "thin" or don't have much touch sensitivity is another bummer. It wouldn't be an issue if I have the B3 on a full board, but for the times I'd use it as a standalone unit, it might become an issue.

4) I'd also be buying a multi to cover pitch/modulation duties if I ever need them, so reports that they aren't so great on the B3 makes me think twice. I'd reserve judgement on that until I actually got to check one out though.

The B3 still looks like one of the better multis out there and I may pick one up eventually... but those things in addition to the fact that I need to be smart with my money right now have made me decide that now isn't the time.

Thanks to everyone for posting all the great feedback (both pros and cons)! I'll stay subscribed to this thread, and am looking forward to reading continuing input on the Zoom.
