I'm 17. I have one bass, a Squier P.
You are 14. You have two basses, brands I don't know but still you have two.

This just isn't fair. :crying:

i guess this would be a bad time to say that im 14 and i have three basses. A Squier P (minus all electronics, and one tuning machine, which i stripped off to make my whamola), A washburn XB105, and a brand new stingray.

Gooday and welcome. And congratulations on getting an early start. I'm ancient (34) and just started playing a few months ago.

I have an Olympia acoustic bass (ABG). But now that I've joined talkbass, I doubt I'll be happy with (just) it for long. Must.....acquire....gear.......

Welcome!

I have an ARIA somehtign or other, it has 4 strings and a pretty fair chunk missing on account of i dropped it. :hiding:
I sold a Johnson 5 string if that counts :ninja:
I'll be gettign a Carvin LB20 fretless in seafoam green soon.
(I'm ordering it in about a weekish)

I have a Yorkville 200Watt twin 10'' combo amp

Boss overdrive (geetar pedal actually but I dont mind it :eyebrow: )
Digitech Bass Squeeze.
Hope you like TB
Word of advice, DONT READ TAB!!!!! Learn music notes first and only! Reading Tab was probably the biggest mistake I've ever made and I've only been playing like 4 years.

Hi Sara, welcome to TB.

I currrently have the following line up of basses:

Jerzy Drozd Excellency IV/28
Conklin GT-7
Kubicki Ex-Factor
Fender, Geddy Lee Signature Jazz
Fender, Steve Harris Signature P-Bass
Squire Bullet Bass, heavily modified.

Have Fun!
Do they still make the Steve Harris bass? If I'm not mistaken they dont, but I used to want one, do you have any pics?/ is it good/why don't they make it anymore?

Hey sara, nice to see another youngin' on this site. You will definitely find lots of information here about everything that is related to the world of bass guitar.
I play a Spector Q5, by the way
Welcome to TB
Have Fun :bassist:
Oh, and by the way, if u didnt know already, GAS stands for Gear Acquisition Syndrome or something like that. It may seem kind of odd right now, but you'll be feeling it in a few weeks (or days) time. Dont Worry :)

From my understanding the Steve Harris model is disconntinued. I just aquired mine a few days ago and it was in factory mint condition, complete with the protective plastic on the pick guard and the factory inspection and serial # tags still hanging on the headstock. I don't know if this bass was stashed away in the back of the store or what, but this bass is brand spank'n new. I know it was a limitd production run, but a very short one at that.

I totally dig on this bass. This bass has a great neck, and great feel. I went to GC a couple of days ago and played some of the new P-Basses and nothing compared.

Here is a link to a pic of the bass, the p/g looks funky cause the of the protctive plastic.

I play MIA Fenders but I only got them after I graduated from university (and got a job). Otherwise, I played the crappiest Samick bass through the crappiest Samick amp for about 8 years. My only advice to you is to be inquisitive. Learn to use the search function if you have a question and if you can't find the answer, post and you'll get lots of answers.

Hi Sara. Welcome to the wacky world of TalkBass!

I'm Brian, I've been playing for a long time, and I have a bunch of basses.

Recently I got a MusicMan StingRay 5. I like it a lot.

Mostly I play Roscoes and F basses these days. And I have a couple of Alembics for recording purposes.

At the moment I'm in need of a 5-string P bass (or whatever comes closest).

The only suggestion I have for newbies is: PRACTICE! A lot. But you knew that already, right?

I used to play along with the radio (whatever they happen to be playing at the time), to develop my ear. And, I go to a lot of jam sessions and pick-up gigs around town, to develop my creativity and spontaneity, as well as my ability to work well with other musicians.

I wish you the best of luck and success with your bass playing. Have fun!

Hey everyone,
Thanks for the welcome, whoever asked if I'm hot, I'm 14 so you just might have to find out. lol. Everyone, you have cool basses, I have two basses yes but one is cheap, actually they are both cheap so Im saving for a new one, I noticed alot of you have Squirers....awesome! I also think that 8 string is awesome!!!
peace
Sara
