I would use the other stuff as well, of course, but to me it's worth getting just so I can have three or four different envelope filter settings and switch between them onstage.

I have a Qtron+ which I love but it's just not practical in live performance as I don't have the option of spending time onstage chasing sounds. And those "just a few seconds" are crucial at a real live gig.

Several presets are less wacky and more conservative envelope settings. These can be copied, pasted to another slot and edited at your convenience to suit your needs. you can also select a few parameters your on-the-fly changes.

hey guys

I just got the OS and to be honest some presets are lame.
I was expecting more from this pedal and I'm kind of disappointed.

it doesn't work with my Pedal power and it eats the batteries fast.
not sure if I should send it back just yet

can anyone show me some nice and wet envelope filter setup?

Try the "push the envelope" preset, but increase the VCF peak for more wetness

a tad low on volume but I can get the picture.

I guess this one is one of those pedals that you need to
go deep to make the best out of it.

How about those TBer's Presets?

I think that would help a lot of folks like me
with not a whole lot of time to mess with the OS.

It works perfectly on one of the 250mA slots on my Pedal Power 2+- do you have an older model or something?

My main issue with the OS was that I couldn't get any of the envelopes to open much at all because of my soft playing style. Richard sent me a beta last night that utilizes the extra 6dB of gain the OS has, and now everything works great. Of course, I already sold it, so it doesn't matter much now :D I may grab another in the future when the user patch exchange is big enough to use, as it's a bit more that I feel like doing in terms of creating sounds at the moment.

Yes, it's an older pedal power.

mmmm, more stuff to buy I guess, :D

the tracking is not up to par either
but I guess it's all about tweaking this monster, :D

I'll try tonight and see if I'll keep it.

How about that +6db patch?

To the US owners...

How are you powering your OS?

I've tried the high output on my Pedal Power 2, I've tried the Visual Sound One-Spot, and another 9V adapter, all of which should put out plenty of power and I can't get my OS to do anything but freeze. I've been talking to Richard who is a champion of customer service, and he's doing his best to get me updates on the firmware, but I'm starting to think I've got a lemon.

If freezing up is your issue, then it's not the power supply. Many people have had the freezing issues- Richard said he believes he's gotten the freezing out with the latest update that he's putting out.

+1 to everything here. The OS needs more power than most. It needs to be run in one of the 250 mA slots or with a separate wall wart. Running it in any other slot on the PPII seemed to result in "Reading Card" messages and no function.

For me it isn't about soft playing style (I pluck fairly hard) as much as my bass not having a really hot signal. The only issue I've ever had with the Audere pre in my Stammie is that it is low output. Had I to do over again, I would have requested to increase the gain by 6 dB (it's only a $5 option). As it stands I often have to turn up my controls (bass, mids, treble) and really favor the bridge PU to get most filters to really open up.

Well.........

As much I wanted to like this one it's not working for me.

I started messing around and got some ok sounds
but the freezing up and the battery thing really ticks me off.
It froze 4 times for no reason.

I also found that the OS likes active basses better than passive ones.
even when I boost the output or the effect etc....


I really wanted to like this one
because of the programability and the possibilities but
I don't think it's all there just yet.

Although
it has a BIG potential in the future if for example:

1. There's a pool of visual presets so the first time experience is not so much of a left brain experience shocker.

2. Maybe a few You Tube videos explaining in a down to earth way the possibilities of the OS etc.....


So it's going back tomorrow but I haven't closed the door just yet.
Maybe I'll come back to it with a fresh mind and try it again later on.

Some suggestions to the most recent posters:
1. Yes the freezing is taken care of in the most recent firmware, so please be patient.

2. I'm powering mine off an old Boss multi-power thing, and it works great. Last time I used batteries on stage I swore off them because of the problems that can occur so I'd recommend against them anyway just for reliability purposes.

3. I play a passive jazz bass, and have zero problems with signal level. So you play quietly? Crank up the gain so it can track better. Remember it's a synth pedal so chances are very little of your clean sound is going to get through anyway so you can afford to be a bit more aggressive with output and gain to make the most of your effects.

4. Yes, the presets are pretty useless, and I'll quite easily admit I will not use a single one for any purpose whatsoever aside from using as a base for my own effects. They are there to show off the range of possibilities, not to actually be used live. Otherwise why give any option to alter them?

5. Please, please, please don't give up on the pedal until you have put a decent amount of hours and effort into getting to know it and use it effectively (I suggest 10+ hours). You wouldn't have given up on playing bass if you couldn't master it in one or two sittings, so why wouldn't you give the same courtesy to a completely new piece of equipment that is almost as important in your playing?

If it's not important at all, then why did you buy it in the first place? $550 is a lot to pay for a curiosity! I for one will be putting in the time to get the sounds I want out of it (which I know I can get), and will reap the rewards of that effort. Will you?

great post. i was just about to comment on how everyone is intimidated by it's massive operating system, and then you come along. bravo.

maybe one day i'll pick one up, after the storm dies down a little.
