NFL 2017 Week #2

Seahawks get as close to a bye as you can get and still play a game. I'll be hoping for less inane announcers, more comprehensible reffing, and an actual offensive line that shows up to play football. All may be asking too much.

Almost a bye week for the Raiders.

Hey I'll take any win for the Raiders! But, yeah, I couldn't name five current players on the Jets this year. And if they could only put up 12 on the Bills, I'm not exactly afraid. Oakland needs to stay healthy (what team doesn't?), but this could be a heck of a year. The way I see it, we only have 5 games on our schedule against opponents that I think will make the playoffs, and two of those are against the Chiefs (the rest being the Giants, Cowboys, and Patriots [not counting Tennessee, who could get by the Texans if Mariota is as good as he looked when we beat him]).

So, good team? I think so. Lynch looks darn good, and the big names from last year are all healthy and working together nicely. Fairly weak schedule? I think so, but I won't complain. Baltimore and Miami could get better as the year progresses. Philly might not be a push-over.

But if the Raiders pick up from where they left off last year, I'm predicting 13-3. But I'm afraid that one of those three losses will be to New England, so maybe no AFC Championship in our crappy facility before Vegas (Vegas...). It'd be a killer sendoff though! I have hope. Some...

Oh, and the other two losses will probably be Kansas City (figure we'll split the series with home field) and New York (the Giants always get better later in the year, when we play them, and awesome player terrible haircut guy will be all over the Raider secondary, which could make for a really bad day).

I hope for 14-2 and playing New England in Oakland, on our way to the Superbowl, but realistically, I'm prepared for a loss in Foxboro in the snow. Beats the dark days in recent Raider history!
