The Chargers made the most fourth down plays in a game since about forever. Every time you thought they were done, they weren't.
The Raiders/Bengals should be a good game. The Steelers/Chiefs will probably be depressing.
And the Coaching Carousel is in full swing.
First, Broncos axe Fangio.
Today the Bears fire Nagy, Dolphins fire Flores, and reports of Vikes canning Zimmer.
Makes the Jim Harbaugh to the Bears speculation a little more credible. Although why he would leave the cushiness and comfort of Michigan is beyond me. Methinks the Wolverines probably have a bigger salary cap.

Alright NFL, here is your chance for some actual change to your game.
Please don't recycle all of these coaches who got fired today. There are plenty of assistants and college coaches who deserve a shot at head coaching.
If not, might as well give guys like Jim Mora and Rich Kotite a ring.

I do NOT understand the firing of Brian Flores at all. True, they haven't made the playoffs in his three seasons there, but Miami had back to back winning seasons for the first time since 2002-03, and that's despite Tua being hurt a bunch and still learning the position. There was a clear sense that they were building something. This stinks. I don't know who they think they're going to bring in that's going to be better. Maybe Bienemy?
That one surprised me too as I sifted through the names of guys let go today. They kept the GM though. I'd say it seems the pressure is on him to keep the momentum Flores started. Odd though for sure.
Looking at the comments from Ross, the owner, it also seems like maybe the GM and head coach didn't get along. That's too bad Ross chose Grier over Flores. Then Ross also makes some comments about the possibility Tua isn't the QB. Odd as well.

I think the Dolphins screwed the pooch firing their head coach Brian Flores. Someone is going to get a good one when they snatch him up. His defense minded coaching has value. He reminds me a lot of Vrabes. His players leave it all on the field for him. He is essentially getting the blame for the Dolphins drafting Tua instead of Herbert.
Jacksonville is on the clock. They need to trade the #1 and acquire assets for the next few years. A team like Washington makes a lot of sense. I would be looking at quality OT's or a true #1 WR in this years draft if I was the Jags. OT ( likely LT ) Charlse Cross from Mississippe State or WR Garret Wilson from Ohio St look like quality targets after a trade with someone. Getting future #1's next year and mabe the year after if the trading team is desperate enough to go for QB Kenny Pickett from Pitt. I'm thinking he is the only QB worth a first round grade ( albeit a bit of a reach for the numero uno spot but hey, weird stuff happens every year right?

I am reading this on Monday, the 10th, so I can’t claim clairvoyance, but the Stillers, to everyone’s amazement, are a playoff team.

The only thing that would make Bronco-land happy was to fire Fangio. By all accounts a good person and liked by the management, but he never figured out how to be a head coach.
I thought Drew Lock actually played a good game in the final week. He might become more than a backup with a good teacher - which he NEVER had with the Broncos.
But I'd rather bring in Minshew and start him. That dude can play.

Why should they, and who didn't they do something good for? Only 2 teams were going into the playoffs. They did something good for the Steelers by going for the W, but I doubt anyone with the Raiders cares who ELSE is going into the playoffs. You play to win the game. In this particular case, the Raiders will now play the Bengals. Had the Raiders tied with LAC, they would be playing in KC. So going for the W made sense for the Raiders. I'm not saying they're beating Cincy but I think they have a better chance than against the KCC which is exactly what the head coach was probably thinking.
All this. Plus, I couldn't imagine any team in the AFC North helping a division rival get into the playoffs. Any of those fan bases would be pissed.

If the Packers D fails them again in a payoff game, I wonder if they'd consider Zimmer as D Coordinator. There's always a lovefest between him and Rodgers every time they play.
Interesting piece on Flores and the Dolphins. Sounds like all sides bear some blame.

Perhaps, but Stephen Ross doesn't know squat about football compared to Flores. The article details the drafting of Tua. Among Ross, Grier, and Flores, if Flores says he wants Herbert, the smart move is to draft Herbert.
It's bound to fail and end up with strained relations when the boss and his boss make the call on the roster and then tell the coach...'make this work, even though we know it wasn't what you wanted'. One could almost argue they sabotaged Flores.
Just another big shot owner who thinks he knows something about football because he has money.

As you can imagine, the Denver media are speculating at length about who the coach will be (there are 8 announced interviews) and who will buy the team.
Today the news broke that the judge in the critical case resolution needed for the sale has ruled. The estate of Ed Kaiser, the primary owner of the Broncos before Pat Bowlen, had sued stating that the estate had right of first refusal in any sale. The judge evidently ruled that right no longer exists after Kaiser's death., so the team is free of that obligation.
The Bowlen heirs can't agree on a new owner, so they're going to cash out and sell the team. The Broncos are going to be on the market pretty quick, and I heard there are six bids ready to submit.
