I think the NFL should boycott the combine. Show those kids what's up.

Rumor mill is AR will announce his retirement on Pat McAfee in 30min. I don't think I'm buying it.
Rudolph had good success in college. His senior year at Oklahoma State, he completed 65% of his passes for nearly 5,000 yards with 37 TDs and only 9 INTs. His biggest problem, though, is not looking off the defense in the secondary. You can get away with that in college somewhat, but not in the NFL. I guess we'll see how he does as the full-time starter.Hey, 5-4-1 translates to another non-losing season next year.
What are they going to say? At this point they have no other QBs under contract. I don't know who they could bring in better that would not cost draft picks, a big cap hit or both. I'm not sold on any of the names being thrown out there.
I'm resigned to them riding out next year with Rudolph, improving other key positions and slotting themselves for a good QB in the 2023 draft.
One thing I noticed about Stafford in the playoffs and Super Bowl is that he is a master of looking off the defense. He seldom looks at his intended receiver until about 1 second before he chucks the ball...if that long!

I had those same sour grapes about the guy for years as well for all the time beating Pittsburgh. I grew out of it eventually, and I am sure you will too.
Life is too fleeting to dislike someone you don't even know. Especially when that someone is the model of what is great about a particular skill/event/sport/industry/yada yadda. Use that energy somewhere else positively.

The hypocrisy runs thick in the NFL. The League is in bed with sports gambling and it's no doubt a big part of its business model, yet the PR line is that they are so concerned about the integrity of the game that any football gambling under any circumstances results in a ban of this magnitude.

Seriously.
It's ok for me though, I'm over it with most pro sports anymore. As I get older, I am finding all kinds of free time in my life to garden, backpack, hike, workout, go on walks with the wife, cook, and so on now that I don't devote my weekends and some weeknights watching games.
5-6 years ago, there was absolutely zero chance I'd agree to do anything on a Sunday or Monday night if it interfered with a Steelers game or another NFL game. Wow, I have come a long way. I'm quite fortunate the wife put up with my ignorant self all those years.

I find myself in much the same position. I used to get SO worked up over NE games, and then I realized that Belichick never called me to ask my opinion.
When the COVID season happened and they were pumping in crowd noise, it felt really fake. I don't think (other than the SB), I've watched an entire game since. I shed, rehearse, spend time with the wife/dogs, and am generally a lot happier on Sundays.I'll watch every Steelers game that gets shown here and every Penn State game. Sometimes live, but often recorded, so I'm not a slave to the schedule and can zap commercials. Certain other games, I might have on, but will be doing other things.
I also have tried many times to downsize the importance of sports in my life. Being a life-long sports addict, it isn't easy, but over the past few years I've tuned out and turned off more and more. And my life was no less richer for missing those games. I also noticed that the elation I felt watching my teams win didn't match the 'downer effect' when my teams lost, so I realized I'd rather watch games I had no horse in, and just enjoy the game. So slowly, I've been watching less sports, but certainly not cutting it out completely. I just don't schedule my life around the next kick-off or face-off like I used to.
But despite my vowing to push the NFL away due to much of the off-field baloney, I gotta admit the on-field product has been better than ever. As I'd mentioned before, the playoff games this past season were absolutely stupendous. Glad I didn't miss too many of those!

That's me in a nutshell. Life-long Steelers fan. Penn State grad. I watch those two teams, but rarely watch any others.
I will say this, the group of youn'z that have been talking football with me since I can remember at TalkBass are great. I enjoy these threads every year.
