That's true of most teams in the NFL. Seattle is doing a complete teardown at the moment. I suspect they will be awful for a couple years, maybe on purpose.

Borrowing a thought I heard from Dan Patrick today on our drive home from the chiropractor: San Diego got Mack, Denver got Wilson, Kansas City is Kansas City. What will the Raiders do to improve in the AFC West?

It's a bummer for Seattle fans, but John Schneider is a genius.
He had a 33 year old QB with 10 seasons under his belt. Sure he has some good years left, but those are going to be just a few maybe. The team won seven games with Wilson. Staring down the roster today and the rest of the NFC West, it's not like they had the ability to make another Super Bowl run or two.
Brilliant move when you compare it to a similar decision Pittsburgh made with their aging QB. They decided to hang on to him and squeeze out what they could. They kept him past his expiration date. Then they were stuck with a worn out QB with zero trade value and a giant contract.
Many Seattle fans don't like the move for emotional reasons and what Wilson meant to the Seattle area, and I understand that. He is a good man from what we've been allowed to know about him.
A year or two from now, maybe longer or even sooner, and we'll see the wisdom of ripping the band aid off so to speak.

The formula is the same. Draft the fastest person in the draft. Bring in a dumpster fire headed elite talent so you can let them go next season and attempt to bring in a media person to join management somewhere

True, but I'm more optimistic about Wilson's long range potential. If he plays behind a decent O-line, it will reduce wear and tear on him, and he may be willing to evolve his playing style and reduce scrambling as he gets a few more years on his body. At any rate, it will be fun to watch. Brees isn't that different in height, and he learned to just move a few steps in the right direction.

Denver is still giddy but looking very hard at the rest of the team. They still have multiple draft picks this year, and there is good talent at other positions now that they have their QB.
