Well, now we're mixing in two different subjects though really.
You're right though, I'm all the time whining about the players who are more concerned about building their brand and being omnipresent in all forms of media/entertainment. Those guys aren't football players, they are multi talented individuals who happen to have some good to great athletic skills as well.
What someone chooses to do for four days in the offseason is not the same as an athlete embarking on a music/acting/etc career that is obviously more important to him than playing football.

Well put. Rodgers has made it clear that he's marching to a different drummer. Something that might be a good experience for him could easily be a nightmare to someone else.

I'm not going to judge him. He knows himself better than any of us do.

As weird and freaky and at times aloof as he is, Packer nation for the most part gives him a pass, a "well that's just Aaron" because he brought us a Superbowl, and if he wants to spend 4 days in complete darkness, it's better than lots of off-field controversy. He pretty much walks the straight and narrow and for those reasons, he'll always be endeared in Wisconsin. Now if he pulls a Favre or something here in the next couple weeks I might retract all this.

I doubt Jordan Love will ever be a starter. I don't think the Pack has their next QB on the roster, and they should be drafting one every year.

Second time around yes. But after that it amazes me how many coaches get fired and almost immediately hired by another team. The "Coaching Carousel". If he sucked at his last job why would I want to hire him?

You need contacts to get the interview. People also don't realize how much there is to being a head coach. Also, generally the first job is with a cr@p team. Look at Bill Belichick.

This and teams, especially their fans, have no patience. If a coach can't turn a scrap team into a SuperBowl contender in a couple years, people are calling for their heads. Same thing at the college level.

I do this too, but alone, for a few days. I think one of the important features is not hearing another human voice for days. When I return to civilization, I am far calmer and more grounded. Driving back into the land of neon signs sort of breaks my heart, in a way.

That's a nice walk in your avatar. It'd break my heart to leave that behind too. I know just how you mean though. Returning to civilization is rough, especially after you just proved to yourself you can survive on your own for X amount of days away from all the things we often refer to as modern conveniences.

If Mahomes is still significantly slowed by the high ankle sprain, Philly's best-in-the-league pass rush (and it isn't even close) is going to cause major problems. On the other hand, Hurts hasn't been anywhere near as efficient a passer since coming back from his shoulder injury. That didn't matter a lot against the overmatched Giants, or the Niners when they basically had no quarterback for most of the game. But if his struggles continue, the Eagles might have trouble keeping up with the Chiefs.

I'm rooting for the Chiefs and give them a slight edge. But I certainly wouldn't wager on this game. And I won't be mad if Philly wins--great team and I like Hurts as well.

Totally agree that quarterback health is a huge issue, but I suspect the outcome will be determined by whether the Eagles pass rush gets to Mahomes, whether he's 100% or not. Also agree about Hurts's struggles. I'm definitely concerned, because in the NFC title game he missed some throws he usually makes, like that deep ball to A.J. Brown that should have been a touchdown. If he misses those today, it will be rough for the Birds.

In case anybody was wondering, the heavy drinking is well under way in Center City Philly. By early afternoon the bars were at capacity, with long lines out the door. Go EAGLES!
