I like it when Detroit wins and I like Jared Goff. Kansas City seems a bit conceited to me, so I'm glad they lost.
Unfortunately this loss will work in the favor of that Kansas City defender holding out because he has some stupid idea he doesn't get paid enough.

I'm doing my beginning of every season of having high hopes for my Dolphins. This year a little more than most because if Tua can stay on the field the Fins will be scary. But that's a big if.

I've seen some pathetically poor performances from the Steelers the past several years, but this has to be the worst.
TJ looked like the only one who came to play. Of course, he's the kind of player that doesn't need to be motivated or told what to do.

Him and Cam are about the only two legit guys on that team. Some folks rave about Minkah, but that guy goes through stretches where he pouts and takes series/quarters/halves/games off.
I sort of hit me today why so many players love Tomlin, he's loyal to them even when they don't give it their all. When you have a coach striving not to lose more than he wins, it's alright to not give it 110% every play.
I said it last year, out of respect to TJ and Cam, they oughta trade those guys to teams with a legit Super Bowl chance.

Excellent game for Miami today--a win on the west coast against a pretty good team, the Chargers. Tua was incredible, not just by the numbers but some of the throws--particularly the goal line fade to Hill for the win, it was just perfectly placed. And Tua wasn't sacked at all, despite the presence of both Bosa and Mack. The defense got run on time and time again, but Fangio dialed up the right blitzes at the end to seal it. Miami will be tied for first with whoever wins the Bills/Jets game tomorrow night as the Pats lost. Mac Jones had 54 pass attempts! That doesn't seem like the formula for a win.
Tough day for the guys who got big contract extensions. Burrow was awful, and Daniel Jones somehow looks even worse!! Lamar Jackson was so-so at best, but got a win.

That's fairly common these days. Anyone remember the last player to get a big contract and show up and play even better once they got paid? I don't.
It's all about making a splash for a year or two, have your publicity team stir up the pot in the media about getting paid, get your payday, then take it easy.

I thought it was a joke when rumors started up that the Steelers were going to sign Patrick Peterson. Remember him? The guy who was good 10 years ago. Then it got out that he is Tomlin's buddy and I knew then that bad decision was all but a done deal. Peterson got smoked for two TD's today and I'm sure that will have zero impact on his playing time. Tomlin loves the guy, he's locked in as a starter.
What the heck is the deal with leaving George Pickens on the field after that personal foul? I'm not seeing any kind of discipline whatsoever or accountability from Tomlin or the coaching staff.
It's fairly apparent to me Tomlin is focused on playing football with his buddies on Sunday. Winning, while nice, isn't a requirement so long as he can high five and hang out with his buddies.
Anyone else notice the second offensive play from Canada today? The friggin jet sweep, that hasn't ever ever worked. Ever.
I get it, Pickett was bad today, but Canada was badder. No surprise there. He's been bad since before he got to Pittsburgh.
Watching Shanahan dismantle and out coach Tomlin reminded me of all the times Belichick has done it. After today, it has to be obvious even to a casual football fan that the NFL game has passed Tomlin by. The last player who could perform well enough to hide his ineffectiveness, Ben, is gone. No more Hines, Troy, Farrior, Faneca, Ben, Jerome, Keisel, Hartwig, Parker, etc to cover for you and hide who you really are Mike.

The Browns-Bengals game was on opposite the Steelers game. I should have been watching both, just to see how bad Burrow and Watson both were to get lower QB ratings than Pickett.
That was a great way to usher in the Love era. But I'm still reserved about it. That was not a very good team Love beat. 3 surprises for me were the Lions, Dallas' dominance over a division rival, and Tua's arm.
Lions are going to have a good year. Had Toney been benched after the 3rd drop the outcome Thursday may have been different. Had Kelce been healthy for certain the outcome would be different. But either way it’s a huge win and I wish them well. As a Falcons fan I empathize with Lions fans. Y’all deserve it. For sure you’ll make playoffs.

Cowboys D looked unbeatable. Glad we don’t play them this year.
Arthur Smith is stubborn and he’s the rich guy in the room who refuses to listen to good advice. But I think Ridder will start passing to his 2 first round receiver/TE even if Smith tells him not to. Bottom line is we won’t beat GB without chunk plays.
Jets are probably gonna Jets tonight. We’ll see. But Flacco/Wilson/White triple backups outperformed Rodgers in 2022 and just like we saw with Lamar last year, being MVP a while ago isn’t the same as being MVP today. Buckle up.

Sad about Dobbins. He’s awesome and fun to watch. Speedy recovery. But his loss means Lamar is going to run more which means Lamar is going to get hurt which means Ravens are in for another season like every other season lately. Which is why the Falcons were right to not go after him. Our GM is smarter than yours. But both are smarter than the Schoen (Giants).
Tua had a fluke game. But good to see him healthy. No matter how much smack talk, I don’t wish injuries on anyone ever. And he’s a good dude.
Texans still in recovery mode after about 3 years of cutting/trading enough talent to win a Super Bowl. McNair has fun with his toy team.
Colts best quarterback is on the bench. Will be a challenging 4 years. Speculative intangibles don’t win games.
But again, Irsay has a neat toy.

Who knows what the Browns will be this year. I struggle to root for them because of Watson, but they are also the team I grew up rooting for. The original iteration of the Browns, anyway. I can never, ever root for the Ravens. Cleveland seems to have a legitimate defense, and their running game will be good as long as Chubb is healthy and the 0-line is decent. Demolishing the Bengals like that sure was unexpected.
So was the Seattle demolition by the Rams. That was just ugly. It was a bad day for sportsball out here in latte-land. The Mariners lost and so did the Seahawks.
Really liked the '9ers game yesterday. Good to see Purdy back up and at 'em. I will be pulling for this team in the NFC this year. Also liked the Packers a lot better with love than I liked them with that other guy, who kind jumped the shark the past few years.

Along those lines, it's time to get rid of cable. ESPN was the only real reason I was keeping it, and it's too damned expensive. Besides YouTube TV, what are other options that will get me the local networks plus ESPN and hopefully TNT (for NBA playoff content)?
