I've never understood any football play that isn't designed to get the distance required, just have zero idea why this happens.
In almost all cases I agree. If a receiver is say, 4 yards short of the line but there's not a defender within 5 yards I can see throwing to him. But throws that are obviously going to be short make zero sense.

Then you get Arthur Smith who wants to see how far behind the line of scrimmage he can start the play, so the third and six is really third and nine.
It's totally obvious when Rodgers audibles out of the gibberish Smith is calling.

Went to bed at halftime last night. Never thought I’d be pulling for the Patriots in a game but without Tommy Tuckrule and Bellitubby on the field my dislike for the Ratbirds outweighed my dislike for the Patriots. Thought the birds were on their way to a W, but happy to discover otherwise this morning.

So now it looks like three of the four teams I don’t want to be in the Super Bowl are out or pretty much out (Ravens, Chiefs, Jerry Joneses). Now if someone can just knock out the Eagles, I’ll be excited for a Super Bowl for the first time in a while.

Need a Steelers win or a Ravens loss to eliminate the Ravnes. The Steelers play the 3-12 Browns in Cleveland. Just the sort of game they are likely to lose. The Ravens have to play at Green Bay, so a tough game for them. Could come down to the final head to head for the division - classic AFC North.

Bears knew they had to knock Love out of the game to improve their chances and mission accomplished. First a roughing the passer then the helmet launch to Love's head. Classy. Willis came in and did an admirable job. Defense choked it away. Thanks Lions/A-Rod. It's apparent this team's not going anywhere in the playoffs without Parsons. No one has the ability to step it up and fill that void. Kudos to CWilliams - he gets better every time I see him. Great pass to win it.

1. i was surprised that i could actually watch the steelers game on fubo
2. flippiing the middle finger and slapping somebody are just old school Pittsburgh stress management go tos
3. i still think it's pretty lame that mcvay got rid of goff, he didn't personally screw up todd gurley's knee

The Packers defense and special teams lost that game. Allowing a receiver to get that open in the red zone and not recovering the onside kick doomed them. Willis being unable to handle that snap didn't help, either.

Yes, without Parsons, the Packers will have a tough road to the playoffs. But they only have to win one more game to get there. Love will be back soon, I'm sure.
