NFL draft tonight, thoughts?

Jason Worilds???????????????????????????????????? Who???

Bowman was on the board still, and even Spikes was too. There sat Cody...sheesh, this one confuses me. We should have traded up to get Taylor Mays and let Troy train him up. At this point, I am disappointed.

My stomach dropped just a little bit when it showed him receiving the phone call.
I felt the same way last year when Heyward-Bey got the call. Then he showed just as little enthusiasm as I did, so we agreed that neither of us wanted him in Oakland.

The O-line still sucks big time, so it worries me a bit that they haven't drafted a single dude for any of the weak positions there, but the commentators implied that maybe Oakland is trying to do what Baltimore did: show STIFF defense and keep teams to one or two TD's and hope that their weak offense can generate just a couple more points.

All I know is if DumbMarcus starts I'm not watching them this season!

Pats did well by addressing needs. They got #2 ranked TE, an outside pass rusher and an inside LB in the second round and picked up a WR in the 3rd (along with trading a 3rd for a 2011 2nd). We won't know if they got the best players available at these positions for a couple of years, but I like the direction they took.

I guess the Pats like current backup QB Hoyer - an undrafted free agent from Michigan State.

I never heard of him. But I saw Michael Lombardi last night on the NFL Network. He really thinks highly of the guy, and said it was a great pick. I guess we'll find out in time.

How 'bout the receiver we got in the 3rd round? I think his name is Emmanuel Sanders. Anybody know much about him?

Worilds is a horse, played at VT, we get a lot of ACC ball here, so I've watched him the past few years. I would have been VERY pleased if he ended up in black & gold instead of black & yellow ( ;) ).

I'm surprisingly OK with the Saints this draft, they haven't taken anyone that was a real reach for the draft spot, picked BPA each time. I think it'll pay off too.

We got Jayson Campbell from Washington....
As lackluster of a quarterback as he's been, he's at least a competent football player. I like Campbell. He can compete with Gradkowsky for the starting position, and they can push each other to be better. The only thing I don't like is that Campbell is not a "get into your *** for not playing well" kinda qb. Hopefully he can be. For Oakland, that's the kind of guy we need

don't worry there is no way fatty mcwoolenhat is going to be a starter next year.

brian hoyer is the man!

it's hard to say whether cambell is actually a decent qb or not... i mean in all those years he was with the redskins he only ever looked average at best, and hopeless and lost at worse (usually whenever they were trailing... which was often). then again he was stuck with a bad o-line and a terrible coach so it's easy to say that there is no way he could be worse in oakland. especially when compared to jokemarcus russell.

I like Jason Campbell. He's done a pretty decent job considering the situations he's been stuck in--awful line at Washington, constantly changing offensive schemes both with the Skins and Auburn. ESPN says he's now on his ninth offensive system and tenth coordinator since he started college 10 years ago! He's probably not a guy who can lead a team to a Super Bowl, but the Raiders are a long way from that right now. He can fill the role for a couple years, at least. And he's light years better than Russell. As a Florida fan, I was amazed when Russell was taken #1. Lots of potential and physical skill, sure, but he was prone to bonehead plays even in college.

Bryant McFadden for a fifth rounder? I like that move.

Haha....the Jets cut Faneca today. Apparently the Jets felt he was not worth what he was being paid. See? The Rooney's aren't idiots.

2 guys from my highschool were drafted in the first round. Can anyone tell me the last time that happened?

#11 Anthony Davis - Rutgers
#29 Kyle Wilson - Boise St

That must have been an incredible team.

Since there are not any football-specific high schools the way that there are in basketball (think Oak Hill or Notre Dame Prep in Fitchburg, MA), I doubt it.

If it has happened, I would have thought it would be a school in FLA, TX, CA or Ohio; not NJ.

I agree - when the press starting talking about the possibility of drafting Tebow - he was like "bring him on."

Hoodie drafted the best punter on day three in the fifth round. I like the pick - I'm sure the Pats will be better on special teams this year and that alone could be worth a game or two. He also drafted another TE to set up some internal competition and a couple of offensive linemen so they can attend the Dante Scarnecchia School of Pass Protection and Run Blocking. Perhaps one of them will turn into the next Dan Koppen (fifth rounder who became a starter on the line).

I was happy to hear that my Raiders picked up McClain from Alabama. He was a baller in school, and the leader on his team. He's the kind of guy who makes the whole defense accountable. Exactly the kind of guy we need in Oakland.

But.........

My stomach dropped just a little bit when it showed him receiving the phone call. You see all the kids before him, suit on at the draft, hugging their family members and close friends, going up for the photo op, etc....and I don't know McClain's story, so I can't judge. And I really hope I'm wrong but it looked to me like he was surrounded by college girls and his homies (it sounds kind of racist...but I'm black, it's just how I talk) throwin up gang signs at the camera, wanting to show their faces and look relevant...just had "hangers on who will show up in a police report for possession of dat stiiiiiicky iiiiiiicky in McClain's car" written all over them.

Maybe I'm just a long suffering and paranoid raiders fan, and it's really never been my style to think anything negatively about anyone I see. But I saw McClain and I said, "yeah, that's an Oakland Raider"

Sometimes it hurts to be right :(
