I am of the opinion that the game was over when the Steelers went up 14-0. The Colts were a beaten and rattled team. You could see it in Mannings face, as well as the rest of the team. The Steeler defense settled in, and the offense went to work on the ground. No one was going to beat Pittsburgh. The only reason it got exciting was because of the Bettis fumble.

Yea Mike, hindsight is always 20/20, huh? You were still nervous all the way to the end, admit it?

You know, I saw that same look on the Colts' faces when they were down big time to Tampa Bay by 21 pts with less than 4 minutes remaining and came back for the win. The Colts didn't do it this time but they came close.

OK, I went back and checked that out. My bad, I'm sorry for that. But.....but....did you think they would win for any reason beyond being a homer? I did. I honestly felt like they would win the game. I did not let my emotions get the best of me last week.

I guess there is no way to prove it......but right after the Heath Miller TD, I told everyone watching the game with me that the game was over, Pittsburgh would win. They all laughed and gave me the line about the mighty Colts offense. I've been watching this Steelers team long enough to know how they operate. That game went exactly how it had to. Grab an early lead, and run the clock out. Edgerrin James was nothing all day, so the defense just focused in on pressuring Manning. It was almost like Cowher and LeBeau wrote the script for the game.

Honestly..........I was only nervous as Parker was running back the fumble. If he would have turned towards the sideline, he would have scored. When he turned to the middle of the field, and Ben grabbed his shoelace to tackle him, I was no longer worried. Dude, I'm totally serious.

I didn't quite understand Harper's reasoning behind that either. Hamburger is only a 6-5ish, 240ish mongoloid, how could Harper not see him and why would he even approach the last defender seperating the Colts from a come from behind victory.

In a way, I'm glad that they didn't win because I'd have to hear a million comments about cheating refs, luck, a stolen game, and general whining similar to Joey Porter's. It would be up there with all the greatest botched/contreversial calls/rulings and be shown twice a week for the next twenty years.

Speaking of Porter, I hope they take all his playoff bonus, just like what happened with Shaun Taylor. To even imply that the officiating body of the NFL shows favoritism towards certain teams is ridiculous and fine-worthy. To outright call them cheaters after the game is simply digging his own hole and I hope they bury him in it.

Hmm...it's kinda hard to tease out my homerism from my more objective football sense. With the squad the Steelers have at the moment, I feel comfortable picking them against anybody...and I really don't think it's purely because I'm a homer. It helps though.

Yup, I agree. I had a guy at work call me a homer last week for picking them to beat the Colts. I'm sure you keep as close tabs on the team as I do, so it's not like we blindly pick the Steelers based on emotions. As I mentioned before, I can not think of a game this year where it was stupid to pick the Steelers. Maybe the Monday night game against the Colts a few weeks ago with Ben coming off injury.

I know you're a Steelers guy Tim, I was just razzin' you.

That is surprising as it sends the completely wrong message. The next time someone opens their mouth crying, "Foul," and they can't really punish them without looking like fools. I imagine Porter getting away with mudslinging will inspire others to whine about calls they do not like.

Whatever. If they don't have the cajones to stand up when their bluff gets called it will only complicate matters in the future.

I agree they should apologize for their mistake and they have, but to let Porter air his feelings with no reciprocation is ridiculous.

Hard to argue with that, and I like Joey Porter (I cringe when he's in front of an open mic, though).

Maybe the NFL agreed with him, and the ref really was on the take???
