The Philadelphia Eagles have pass protection problems Vick was hit way too often, his low completion ratio was in part due to his chucking' the ball into the cheap seat rather than take a sack.
The Philadelphia D unleashed the wide 9 a wierd ass D-line formation with the ends way outside, the result a relentless pass rush but a very soft middle. Until the Rams fell way behind Cadillac Williams was tearing the Birds up running inside the tackles.
For the record Donovan McNabb was a great Quaterback early in his career before he decided he was a pocket passer, once he stopped running he fell from great (A plus) to good (B minus) quickly. The Michael Vick we saw yesterday bouncing out of the pocket and bolting for the first down marker at the sidelines was very similar to the beta version, pre-diva version of McNabb

The Browns brought teh stink. Ah, well, I picked them for 6-10 this year, so I'm not amongst the Clevelanders jumping from buyildings today. You should see the blogs around here, lol.
I was watching the ticker at the bottom of the screen and couldn't believe that score. Pitts looke really sloppy, not the usual from them.

How original. And I'd say that the Bills terrible record was actually the biggest "fraud" as they were a much better team than the scoreboards showed.
Probably not. The Bears have O line issues...not defensive issues.

The talent around him? He never had a decent WR until TO, and that was later in his career and for only one season. There were a number of years when Philly had no running game, and even when they had Westbrook, he was still more of a pass catcher. McNabb got put into a system that relies on the QB to make 40 or more throws a game and little running ever since his rookie year. His receivers were no-names and disappointments like Pinkston, Baskett, Lewis, Johnson, Mitchell, etc. It wasn't until after McNabb was replaced that they have the good WRs they have now. During the McNabb era, he was the main reason Philly had winning records, not his supporting cast.
Like all players, McNabb has declined with age. But it's a new team and players for him, and he has had little off-season prep time. I don't expect him to return to peak form, but I don't expect he'll suck as bad as he did yesterday all season. He'll do better.....until he gets hurt.

Bears once again baffle the critics with a resounding defeat of the dirty birds. Overpaid analysts everywhere are reaching down into their grab bag of excuses as to how the Falcons gave the game away to the Bears. And the odds makers gave The Beloved the home dog in the spread by 3. The #2 seed in the NFC who was one play away with a backup QB from tying the Super Bowl champs who anhilated the dirty birds before was picked to lose.
Other than a couple of errant throws by Cutler, him holding onto the ball too long, and some poor offensive line play at times, I thought the Bears played a great game. The D-line looks dominating. Melton and Peppers were in the backfield all day, and we got much of our pressure from the front 4 with 5 sacks, and 11 QB hits. And this was against a team with a good offensive line. Other than a long run by Turner, the Bears did a good job of stopping the run. The passing D was bend-not-break, and resulted in a top offense last year being held to no touchdowns. Brian Urlacher was showing that he still has it, making a couple of big plays. I love watching good defense, and this game didn't let me down in that department.

The Bills looked great.

I don't think he filed his papers, but he's not playing unless they cut or trade him. He's not involved in any team activities. Last I heard, he was working out with Ken O'Brien.
Big +1. I had to laugh at the "talent around him" remark, that's just nuts. I don't recall anyone claiming McNabb was the best QB in the league, but I certainly think he was in the top 5 during his prime. The Eagles went to the NFC title game, what, 4 times with McNabb?
I don't think he sucked or anything, but I don't think he was ever a top 5 QB in the league either.
If we define his prime as his run of Pro Bowl appearances (2000-20004).... Outside of 2004 I'd say he generally falls in the 6-10th best QB any given year.

Aside from a Romo melt down at the end ( so predictable ) Revis and Cromartie got burned plenty. Romo was throwing it all over the yard on them. Dez punked Revis hard a few times and actually man handled him out there.
Jags won by 2 points. Pretty sure that's not a pounding in anyones book. Aside from a missed tackle that let MJD bust a 22 yard run he was still under 100 yards and the Titans were in it till the end. CJ not showing up to play hurt like hell. But I liked what I saw of Matt, Kenny and Washington. Mariani needs to pull his head out. You gotta catch that punt man ... c'mon.
Falcons looked pretty shell shocked for sure, but not ready? It's game one
We'll hold that assessment until mid season when the shortened practice time is no longer a factor. I understand everyone had the same amount of time, but some teams went through pretty serious changes this off season. It takes time to get continuity.Hard to argue with Buffalo. Fitz was a full grown man out there. He's making a point that last year was no fluke. I trusted what I saw last year enough to draft him in a keeper league. I love him with a full season of Gailey's offense under his belt.
It was a pretty entertaining week 1 so far. I enjoyed the Sunday Ticket freebie, actually getting to watch the Titans play is a rare treat for me. Too bad they lost. Ah well, dems da breaks.
